Attention Disney Cruise Experts

How does DCL compare to RCCL? Can't do an October 2011 comparison for price but RCCL this year for a 4 night Bahamian cruise in October is £678 inc gratuities and DCL for next year on the Dream is $2204 which at todays exchange rate is £1475. :scared1: Are the DCL cruises really worth the extra £700? We loved the 3 night Disney Wonder cruise we did last year but are now wondering if we would be disappointed on an RCCL cruise. Has anyone been on both and got any opinions?

Have you transfered yours to Du yet?
No, not yet, I will eventually:)

Almost impossible to compare if you are a Disney fan. Done 2x RCCL 4 nighters, both on Soveriegn of the seas who has been replaced by Monarch from Port Canaveral. She was a very old ship, not bad but end of life for RCCL brand. Last time was was August 2008, cost for outside cabin(porthole) was less than half DCL inside.
To me they are worth what they charge but not in the same league as Disney for cabin size, entertainment, service, no free soda, films & shows. On the other hand RCCL windjammer buffet was so good we have never made it into the main dining rooms on either cruise, best curry outside Bradford. I also really like their island especially the comodo dragons wandering about.
I would say if you can afford DCL then do it, if DCL prices are a struggle then RCCL is still a great break from the parks.

Just looked at what we paid,
Guest 1 Cruise fare: $599.00
Guest 2 Cruise fare: $599.00

Price now

Guest 2 Cruise Fare $739.00
Guest 3 Cruise Fare $359.00
Government Taxes & Fees (Cruise) $ $141.51
Total Price $1,978.51

Thanks Wayne.
Although very tempting to save money I think we would regret not doing the Dream. If it was the Wonder then we might be more tempted to go RCCL. On the other hand, the money saved would pay for Discovery Cove for the 4 of us.

Our pricing for the Dream doesn't seem too bad against yours.
$679 x 2 Adults
$329 x 2 Child
$188.68 Tax
$2204.68 Total
This is for cat 8c

Last week it was $2044 which is now the exact price for cat 8a!

BTW, is there any way of choosing the exact stateroom when you book on DCL? Dreams Unlimited give you the room number but DCL don't seem to give you the choice.

Seems a good price for Cat 8, Oct is always cheaper than August, last time we sailed in Oct it cost less for 7 nights than 4 nights in August.
We have always chosen stateroom on DCL site, don't think its changed.

Hi Nibbo
You mention RCCL prices for October 2011 were half the price of Disney - would you be kind enough to confirm from whom you obtained these prices. I have looked on the RCCL website and cant find anything for then,
thanks

I couldn't find 2011 prices either. I did say in my post that the RCCL prices were for 2010, but even if they go up 10% for next year they will still be half the price of DCL for October, depending on exchange rate of course.
