Attention All Great Cooks!

You might find Emiril's book on ebay. They sometimes have great deals on cookbooks.

Just had another idea for you. You might want to go to www.copykat.com for close copies of recipes that restaurants are famous for. I've tried several and liked the results.

Also take a look at www. recipegoldmine.com. It has TONS of great recipes.

THANK YOU!
I will definately check them out!

I'm so glad I stumbled upon DIS and then decided to check out this forum!

Just a side note to Wendy Z's Twice Baked Potatoes recipe.

First of all, be sure that you are cutting the potatoes in half lengthwise, not crosswise.

Second, I have never heard of adding Italian Dressing to twice baked potatoes, but it sounds interesting. Some other additions to them that are popular around here are roasted garlic, chives, cheese (I don't remember if Wendy Z's recipe had cheese), milk or cream if your potatoes aren't as creamy as you would like, and butter.

Thank you!
I probably did need to be told which way to cut the potatoes. I'd like to think that I would know that, but I also know me. I've ended up sitting on the kitchen floor in tears more often than I'd like to admit.
I am excited that I'm actually going to try some recipes out. Hopefully someday when I have a family - I'll be able to provide them with actual dinners at home.

I don't have an idea for your special meal but I do have an idea for you to get simple recipes that people use everyday. Check into getting Taste of Home magazine. I love Taste of home they have different ones to choose from Taste of home, Quick cooking(I love this one) and Light and Tasty. The recipes are easy to use and is great for a new cook or someone looking for new fast and easy dishes to serve that taste great!

Hope this helps!

Here is the meal that won me a husband!
I have been married for 6 years and w/ my hubby for 11 and he swears that the moment he entered my college apartment and smelled this dish he fell in love w/ me:
Chicken Champignon:
Sounds real complicated right? Well it is not.
Saute chicken breasts in a pan. When cooked through take chicken out and saute chopped onions or shallots and a little garlic over medium heat. Add sliced mushrooms and saute. When muchrooms are soft take pan off burner add 1/2 cup heavy cream and 2 shots of Cream Sherry, Harvey's Bristol cream or Vermouth. Add chicken back to pan mix a bit and put on a pretty palte. Serve w/ asparagus (sexy because you eat it with your fingers) and a salad. Prepare for love! Good Luck!

Thank you so much for your posts!
I'm having so much fun collecting recipes. I've been cooking for date night (Thursdays) for a few weeks now and it's been exciting. My boyfriend was doing all the cooking, but he's starting to let me share the kitchen.

Jodi - thanks for the suggestion of the magazine. I think that may be the one my boyfriend's aunt gave me her duplicate copies of. I'll double check and I'll definately log onto that website.

Kitty - that recipe sounds GREAT! I can't wait to try it.

It's so funny - my entire office has gotten in on this now. Everyday, they make me share the latest recipes posted.

Thanks!

I'm so glad I finally joined this party......even if it is late! What great recipes!! Quick question...

Wendy Z - for your Twice Baked Potatoes, how many potatoes are you using? I'm having a dinner party this weekend for 8 adults and wondered how many I'd need. Thanks!!!
