I really need to start cooking at home but I honestly don't know what to cook or even how. I really need help, I'm cooking impaired.

I know how you feel, I'm also "cooking impaired". I don't like cooking at all.
My DH loves to, so he does it all.
Good Luck!

RELY on your slow cooker/crockpot.

Other than that..a definitel staple that takes about 15 minutes is the Spaghetti with Jar Sauce and garlic bread and salad...as those stated earlier. My favorite sauce is Sweet and Tasty Tomato by Frencesco Rinaldi..YUM! Don't forget the Parmesan and Romano for the top!! :teeth:

Also, I make chicken breasts alot.

One that is easy and tasty is:

4 chick breasts wrapped with precooked bacon slices,
cover with can of mush soup diluted with 1/2 can of milk
Slice up some mushrooms (or use canned)
Slice up some sweet onions
Bake at 350 for about 20 minutes..till juice runs clear.
Sometimes I cover this with foil while baking
Serve with some rice and veggies..

also, Taco night is fun..
Brown the meat, add sauce or seasonings
Have all the fixins on the side..
Tortilla chips, taco shells, flour tortillas
chopped veggies, shredded cheese, sour cream, etc..
YUM!

Another one we have often is a big salad with all kinds of veggies and some grilled meats on top. Quick and so easy. Can even be leftover meat from a previous meal!!

So many good sites..the allrecipes one is great...

Also, check out the Easy slow cooker meals cookbooks...Some great ones out there

have fun and don't give up......You CAN do it! :wizard:

You're so lucky, I wish my DH knew how cook! I really just hate it, I try and then it's all so messy and nothing turns out right. Oh well I'm giving it another try anyway. ;)

Here's an easy crockpot recipe: chili: you need one can of tomato soup, one can of diced tomatoes, on small can of tomato paste, three peppers, any color or variation will work, one onion, one pound of ground beef or turkey and hot italian or sweet italian sausage (again, turkey sausage will work)..
cut up peppers and onion to nickel sized pieces, brown the ground beef and sausage. Put everything in crockpot and cook 2 hours on high or 4 on low (or all day on low). Top with shredded cheddar cheese.. my husband loves this meal and so do I.
Enjoy!!

I'm just starting out too and I make a lot of chicken breast with different types of marinades. Then I serve it with rice or veggies. I use Rachael Rays cookbook a lot and I also suscribed to Everyday Food magazine. I watch the food network for a lot of ideas too and I've gotten tons of recipes from their website!

Here are a few of my favorite recipies I make all the time:

My favorite Rachel Ray Recipe Bucatini all'Amatriciana:
http://www.foodnetwork.com/food/recipes/recipe/0,,FOOD_9936_29323,00.html
(I use bacon instead of pachetta)

This is my favorite dish:
Curried Chicken

4 chicken breast halves cut into bite-sized pieces
¾ cup chicken broth
1 ½ cups half & half
¼ cup all-purpose flour
1 tablespoon yellow curry powder
¼ cup butter or margarine, melted
¼ teaspoon salt
1 chopped onion
1/8 teaspoon pepper
¼ cup chopped celery (I skip this)
Hot cooked rice
Optional condiments - peanuts, mango chutney (a must!), coconut, rasins

Dredge chicken in flour (shake w/ flour in paper bag); brown in butter in large skillet. Remove chicken, reserving drippings in skillet. Set chicken aside.

Saute onion, and celery in reserved drippings until tender.

Add chicken broth. Cook, uncovered, over low heat 5 minutes.

Stir in half and half, curry powder, salt, and pepper. Simmer uncovered 10 minutes.

Add chicken and simmer 10 more minutes.

Serve over rice

Serves 4

Easy Chicken Fajitas
My DH begs for this every week.

Marinate (for 10 min.) cubed chicken breasts in:
1 part Ranch Dressing and 1 part Honey Mustard Marinade. (enough to cover chicken.) And a couple dashes of season salt.
Cook over medium heat until done.
Serve in warmed tortillas with sauteed onions & peppers, lettuce, sour cream & cheese.

If you are just starting out one of the easiest cookbooks out there is the Fix It and Forget It Cookbook. It can be found and most bookstores and even BJ's and Walmart. You will need a crock pot, but the recipes are so easy. Most just require throwing the ingredients in all together and starting it up!

Good luck in your kitchen adventures!
