So I am in limbo waiting to book two rooms at AKL with David's rentals for this coming December and apparently he needs more members with points to rent. C'mon people lets make this happen and rent out those points so I can book my rooms lol :)

Now in saying that I hope that all you realize I am trying to make lite of this situation so please try to resist the urge to flame me for this post. It is all good and I am just excited about the possibility of renting some points and being able to stay at the AKL for our next trip! Yay Disney and Mickey Mouse:thumbsup2

Why not just rent from someone directly? We have done this for the last 8 years.

Unfortunately I do not know anyone who is a member personally to rent from and I also realize this can be risky business for both parties involved so I am less fearful in dealing with a broker who comes highly recommended. Yes I know there is still risk in that but it makes me feel a little better :) Hopefully this works out for us but we are still 11 months out so no worries! I am in the early stages of planning our vacation to Disney World and it's supposed to be fun and so I am going at this with a happy spirit!

I feel your pain, I can not rent if an individual... If we ever go for points, (thinking about it for next trip) we will use David's... Let all the worry be on him.... One price for all...

You could try dvc rental store they are based in Cape Cod and have a good reputation.

I actually contacted them first, because with David you have to pay a deposit first, and they had the same problem. They told me since I was 11 months out that they would have more luck trying at the 7 month mark. I went ahead and put two deposits down with David to check and they have avalibilty for what we are looking for but not enough members with points avaliable for rent at this resort. I could just get my deposit back but I have already paid a foriegn exchange fee on the amount sent so I am now just going to wait and see if they get lucky and have some members with extra points soon.

Hi op. I would have a back up plan. The first two weeks of December are extremely busy for DVC members and can be difficult to get even at the 11 month mark. You are fortunate that AKL is large so that is on your side but as a long time DVC member who travels frequently during that time, it's a toughie. Good luck.

Thanks for the advice and good luck! I was kind of given the impression that this was the case with the time that we are going and also the resort choice. We are looking into many options right now and my only wish is that we can find one that keeps us on site this year. I probably won't start worrying too much until summer rolls around and then I will get into stealth mode....

I feel you! I am in the exact same situation with Davids except we're looking for points for the Boardwalk for our November Disney wedding/moon. It's hard waiting not knowing. :confused3 what can you do? I've been lurking these boards trying to find someone to rent from but no luck so far. Keeping my fingers crossed for both of us to get the hotels we want! :)

Don't give up hope. I'm renting points for my Sep/Oct trip and I got the same answer from David's when I first enquired about AKV at 9 1/2 months out. Less than a week later, they had found me the points for my 6 night stay.
I wanted to do a split stay, and also made enquiries with DVC Rental Store. They managed to get me points for a BWV - Boardwalk view studio, for the 5 nights prior to my AKV stay. Given that I'm arriving at the start of the F&W Festival, I couldn't believe my luck to get this room at 9 1/2 months.
So, like I said, don't give up hope. If you need a lot of points, perhaps also enquire about a split stay at two different resorts. I could be wrong, but it might be easier to source smaller sets of points for two different resorts, than a large amount for one.

:) I completely understand and wish you well!!

Your problem is going to be more one of reservation ability, I think. I definitely would not advise waiting until the seven month mark; as others have said, December is the very busiest month of all for DVC reservations. Most members will book their reservations right at 11 months.

Oh I hope that you get your resort too. That is so awesome that you are getting married and having your honeymoon at Disney! Good luck to you and congrats also!!

That is awesome! I hope you have a magical trip!! Thank you for your encouragement.

I rented from someone on DIS. What I did was use PayPal and sent $150 deposit. She made reservation and gave me the number and I checked it out, then paid balance. Also using PayPal you have chargeback protection. If it wasn't legit I could have filed.

Using PayPal may guarantee your deposit/money but when I'm traveling 1100 miles to a big vacation resort place... I don't want to have issues with someone's time share, especially finding no room or reservation.... Contract work when they work.... Not sold on this point rental by member....it's your money and vacation, not how I want to protect mind..

I feel your pain. We recently tried to rent DVC points for Animal Kingdom from both places mentioned in this thread. Neither one had enough points to actually complete the rental process.

I decided to just stay at Riverside since we loved it there in Nov 2011.
