attack of the shower curtain

No, I don't know what the Disney Dream is going to have in the shower. I recently went on the RCCL FOTS and they had shower doors. I thought it was great because I didn't have to walk in water outside the shower after the shower or put up with the curtain sticking to me. Most all the older ships have the curtains. Maybe the trend is for doors on the showers. I don't think the argument of curtains to protect children is valid.

A broken door and glass all over will convince you.

Convince me of what? Is glass or plastic what shower doors are made of. Don't they use they same material in homes? Whatever it is, it was nice taking a shower without the curtains attacking me.

I am not sure I get the whole shower curtain issue?

I've never experienced any trouble after 5 cruises...

I wish I had known about these suggestions back in December! Those shower curtain were kind of nasty and it felt weird when they got stuck to me!!

For many, the shower curtains have been known to "billow" inward and cling to the bather's legs. It feels icky and kind of skeeves people out. So many have come up with their own ways of weighting the curtain down to keep it from floating in and touching them.

Yes, it is tempered glass just like your shower door at home. Plexiglass would be quickly scratched up with the constant cleaning they do. (sort of how the plexiglass on the verandahs looks, scratched up)
I suspect Disney went with a curtain for both safety and sanitary reasons. Reason I suspect this is ships I cruised on made 10 years before the Magic/Wonder have doors, but they don't carry as heavy a load of kids as Disney does.
Sort of like why family hotels tend to have curtains, and fancy hotels which tend to have more adult guests have glass doors.

You could try the trick my 7 year old came up with which was that he put it on the OUTSIDE of the tub, while showering.

When I came in to check on him 2 minutes after he started to shower there was water all over the place (of course) and when I pointed that out I got an "Oops" from him followed by a "I figured it was supposed to be like that because otherwise it kept sticking to my butt and that's just disgusting..."

That's my boy.

Oh my -- I think I just peed myself! Too cute!!

I wouldn't bet all my money on real shower doors on the Dream. Ships older than the Magic/Wonder have doors, but it was my understanding Disney went with curtains because of how many children were on board and concerns the doors would be broken.

They have the glass doors in the suites so I think it may be more of a cost issue than a safety issue.

The attack is caused by the difference in temperature from the hot air inside the shower stall and the colder air on the outside of the shower stall. All you have to do is leave a gap, don't close the curtain all the way. It shouldn't cause too much water from escaping if you don't point the shower head towards the curtain.
Hope that helps. :thumbsup2

That is a great idea! Will have to give it a try. Thank-you:thumbsup2

What I don't understand is why Disney doesn't use the curved shower rods. We have one in our guest bathroom and they help a TON. Most hotels have them these days, and I, for the life of me, can't figure out why Disney doesn't use them on the ships or in any of their resorts. If there was one thing I could change, that would be it!

Maybe because of the size of the bathroom there is not enough clearance for the door to open and close properly on the ship?:confused3
I think that POFQ does have the cuved bar in the BR.

is the shower curtain cloth or plastic? if its a plastic one do they put a brand new curtain up for every new cruise, if not thats soooo gross and i will buy a shower curtain at the dollar store and put it up for us, i can't imagine a shower curtain touching me that hasn't been cleaned eeeeewwww!!!!:scared1:

Just like many hotels, it is plastic, and I would hope it is cleared between guests. Don't ever do a black light test in a stateroom, hotel room, or even your own home if you are grossed out by the shower curtain.

Just wondering if that means you have performed that test????
If so, do you pack that in your checked bags? or how do you explain that to the TSA??? :lmao:

I highly doubt they pull down all those shower curtains and replace them after each cruise. My guess is that they spray them with a sanitzer.

I could have sworn that our shower curtain was cloth... Likewise, last time I traveled for work the Raddison had a cloth curtain.

I could be wrong - I am one of the lucky people that hasn't had to weigh down the curtain, and I don't get attacked by it either...

DH and I were just discussing this. I thought it was a very light cloth and DH thought it was plastic....

Now if they are cloth then they probably do launder then at certain intervals
