Attack of the Lakeshore Lodge

Similar for me but I would flip my BWV points first for Yacht to extend their usefulness.

I would like to increase my direct points over time

So eventually maybe I would then flip AKV or BLT if there is something done with a direct entrance to a park or something with the villains' land. Maybe even if LSL turns out to be amazing (and it isn't merged with the CFW)
Yeah.. same.. it'll help me the correct the error I made with 2 use years although I don't think I'll ever sell the AUL points in that UY. Sub dues is just too good and there are close to 0 in my April UY. Almost all of my points will be direct except for AUL and that one makes the most sense to buy resale for along with the 2042s.

The Cabin sites are different, even unto themselves. For instance 2200/2300/2500 will be very different than 2800. We stayed in the 200 loop in a rented RV a few years ago and absolutely loved it. There is such a feeling of camaraderie among the RV crowd that we really loved. That said, if you do have a cart, you can still go looping, etc. and get most of the feels of the Fort. I personally request 2200/2300/2500 as it is so close to the 2100 camping loop that you still get the same feel.

Yet another testimonial that the camping loops have the "feel". Which means that the cabin loops <don't>.

For the record, 2500 loop is a little further away from the ENERGY of the camping loops (2100/1100 nearest to CFW) but the times I stayed in the cabins EONS ago (and very recently) I was in 2200 and it was a GREAT choice (long ago) and 2300 recently.

Maybe D23 will tell us something meaningful.

PS - @tidefan , I'm gonna PM you - it's about time we need did lunch before the fall semester starts.

Always difficult to judge. People did complain, but I believe PVB had months of 150+k, which makes it hard for me to think a single unit type was an issue.

I believe it was first half of 2015 when Tikiman posted the list of future resorts.

Yacht Club is the only miss (so far). Still IT @PVB was 9.5 years behind PVB opening.
hard to believe he got all of these right!
Hopefully yacht club is next after riv sells out.

Not holding my breath for YC. Theybuse the hotel for conventions and the rooms do fill up then. The only way to do YC dvc is to build a new building and i am not sure they have space, unless they use the cast parking lot across the street and call it YC DVC. I would still probably buy there

Plans can and do change. See the various resorts announced, but never built.

At this point, would YC make sense? 2035 or later seems like a better opportunity.

Some other resorts rumors included Epcot front, a large California theme resort between DHS and BB (including plans on an architecture firm site), another AK, converting more CBR, BLT2 (either replace second wing or another replaced the convention area), and likely others. @tjkraz article about the architecture plans https://www.dvcnews.com/other-resor...alifornia-themed-resort-for-walt-disney-world

@bama_ed I think that the Cabins “can” have the feel if people know what FW is all about. We will be there in a couple weeks and…
  • We will be decorating
  • We will have things to give away
  • We will participate in scavenger hunts
  • We will talk with our neighbors!
My hope is that the more people get used to them, the more they will integrate into the Fort. To me, the vacation is being at the Fort itself. Having points is just a nice way to experience it (mainly since I don’t have a 3/4 ton truck…)

I am actually a fan of being able to use our points at the cabin. I am not a fan, however, of them putting LL basically on top of the settlement and taking away Clementine’s beach…

Yes! Let’s do lunch!

The other thing that was great about the cabins and FW was you always found kids your age to hang out with ( granted this was the 80s ) It was great to see all the different RV's and spend hours doing non park stuff especially the early MK only days before Epcot.

Agree, I feel like the cabins are the most difficult to book at 7 months, even more than BCV or VGC at this point in time lol.
As far as I can see the issues IS NOT people wanting to stay at the cabins. (They do.). The issues IS (a) people not wanting to pay for their maintenance and (b) people not wanting to be arranged into a trust where they don't know what will and won't be added.

For me, it's the current discounts on cash cabin stays - they were $310 a night this summer with an AP. DVC math does not work since it is $251 a night for MF alone. You would have to give away the points to make it worthwhile.

New buyers are not worried about the trust , that is only concerning to us wackos who read every detail and have the experience to know the value of the contractual point protection.

While there are a lot of red flags for educated buyers, for the general public I still think it comes down to the cabins being too unique and niche. If a prospective member is staying at Pop Century or Caribbean Beach or Wilderness Lodge, they can easily visualize transitioning to Island Tower, Riviera or Grand Floridian for future stays. The same isn't true of the cabins. That traditional hotel experience doesn't translate to a cabin in the woods.

The cabins certainly have their fans. And I'm sure some of that audience has passed on a Cabin purchase because of the high dues. But it's still a much smaller audience to begin with. There's enough interest to fill 360 cabins per night. But Disney fills over 25,000 hotel rooms and villas per night. Far more people want the deluxe hotel.

What UY is your Aul-Sub? I see lots of Feb and March right now.

Is that even a thing anymore?

My son is a social butterfly and makes friends on every trip.

Edit to add: Once he made friends with a kid in the DVC lounge. When we got home the email the he wrote down for the kid was wrong so he wanted me to look up his mom in my DVC groups to find her. :rotfl2: I am not a social butterfly and told him no to cyber stalking this kids mom.

Maybe the cabins were 351 a night for some hot week in the middle of the summer, but for us for our Easter trip next year it was 700 a night. Our stay at the cabins in December 2024 was the same too. Cabins booked up in DVC 7 month window for both Xmas and Halloween within minutes. Cash cabins sell out for Halloween 400 days out. There is a huge demand to stay there, albeit not purchase.

When we bought at PVB in 2015, this and other boards were skeptical of buying there, as it was too expensive and it only had one room type. Folks said it would be easy to get a studio at 7 months since there’s so many.

I expect similar fate for the cabins. LSL will get merged with FW, there will be some additional LSL priority for CFW owners, and that with its great amenities plus the upgrade to the CFW pool will make it a viable, normal DVC property to own. Disney isn’t going to let one of its historically significant properties fail, imo.

This being the first stand alone resort to be built in over 20 years, my hope is that they are really putting their all into this resort and will wow us with some of the features. We've had numerous expansions/conversions (even Riv is a somewhat conversion) since AKL was built in 2001. This really should be a resort that elevates the entire Bay Lake area. We'll see whether that actually happens. Does anyone know how far in advance they announced specifics about amenities in past? With 2 years until it opens, there may be motivation to hold onto details and build excitement for future releases. I suspect we'll start getting some but not all information about LSL coming out of D23 in late August.

It was that rate for the whole summer. Not just one week. It’s important to realize that that point that is when kids are out of school.

Granted, Easter and Christmas are gonna have high higher rates, but they also have higher points

I agree with your assessment though, and I think when combine they’re going to be a valuable asset to LSL.

I disagree on RIV, it was built on land that belonged to another resort previously, but it has nothing to do to the previous occupier. Its structure, amenities, theme are completely new. I think RIV gives us a good indication on how LSL will end up being: a deluxe resort with great amenities but lackluster theming. The lazy river will probably convince a lot of people to buy there, but theme wise it will not hold a candle to its neighbor WL. There is a small chance that, being mixed use, they'd push a bit more on the theme front, but I highly doubt it, PIT and RIV set a strong precedence.
