Wednesday June 26
Today I woke up around 11:00. The previous night was fun filled at Jellyrolls and I didnt get to bed till the wee hours of the morning. So naturally I was lucky to wake up at 11. Anyway, I got ready for a day at Magic Kingdom. But first up I needed some fuel for the day. I knew I would be getting Ohanas later on that night so I went to one of my favorite places right down the street from where I used to live. SUBWAY!!!!! After getting my daily dose of the newspaper and my fuel, I headed to MK. Once again I parked at a secret place and made my way to the park. I cant tell you how I got there from my car but I did go through the front gate. I walked under the same tunnel I will always walk under, the left one. And I made sure I turned right and went up the middle so I could look down Main Street USA and see the castle. CMs now wear name tags that have a magical moment under their name. Mine was Main Street USA. Nothing gives me the tingles like looking down Main Street and seeing the castle. I always feel like Im home and right then I don't have a care in the world. I looked down and sighed, it made me feel like I always do.
Then reality kicked in and I noticed the crowds. Once again I hate crowds! And what is it with people stopping to have little powwows in the middle of the street! I also will never understand why people have to walk so slowly and then when you try to get around them they move the same direction youre going! (ok, off my soapbox now)
I went straight to my favorite ride, Splash Mountain, and got a fast pass. The return time was for 2:30 and right then it was around 12:30. I had some time to kill so I went and did something I forgot to do when I lived here and that was to see The Hall of Presidents. I hadnt seen it since George W. Bush had been added so being a presidential junky it was a must for that day. As I exited that show I was perplexed as to what to do. I was already sick of all the people; it reminded me of Thanksgiving last year. I remember coming to MK and I couldnt believe all of the people! I decided to give up and I made my way back to the monorail so I could look around my favorite hotels. I'll keep my fast pass for my trip in September.
Now this is where Im different from most guys my age. I love the hotels and just looking around at everything. I especially love going to the Polynesian, its by far my favorite hotel. As I was walking around the Poly my phone rang and it was my friend Laura. She had just woke up! It was 3 in the afternoon and she was just waking up from the night before! And I thought I was doing badly! Anyway, we made plans for eating at Ohanas after she got ready to go out. So while I was talking to her I made my way over to guest services and made a PS for 6:20. I then headed home to change since I was all hot and sweaty from the parks. Did I mention it was now raining again? Yeah I love Florida.
I picked Laura up and we headed back to the Poly. As we start to talk I remember that shes hardly seen anything at WDW. Shes now lived and worked their for 10 months and the only hotel she has been too was the Boardwalk. Now this is where I am at my best folks. Tour guide at Walt Disney World, in fact before the night is over she will have told me many times shes feels like she is on a tour. Im full of facts and knowledge about the hotels and other useless stuff so I just talk away while she listens. I always love to watch for peoples reactions when I first take them to the hotels. I used to take friends from the college program and they all say the same thing WOW. Laura was no different. She loved the Poly and in fact is now thinking about getting her parents to stay there when they come down. My family stays there the most; in fact its mine and my dads favorite hotel. I showed Laura the pool and other parts of the hotel before we made our way up to Ohanas.
Ok, there is one certainty in my trips to the World. I must eat at Ohanas. I know some dont like it but I ignore all negative comments. I love eating there. I have many words and ways to describe it but most arent fit for the DIS. But lets just say its by far my favorite restaurant at the World. Enough said.
After dinner Laura and I made our way over to the Grand Floridian. I love seeing peoples reaction to this one. She loved it. We did the whole tour though there then made our way to the Contemporary. I made sure we went down to the snack bar to get my favorite cookie, chocolate chip! They are big and so moist; does anyone else love these as much as me? Next we got on the boat that took us to the Wilderness Lodge. Can you believe Lauras roommate works at the front desk there and Laura has never even been to the hotel? She loved that one too, especially how I recited facts to her during the whole tour.
We then hurried back over to the Poly so we could catch Fantasy in the Sky from the beach. We made it right as it was getting started and enjoyed the fireworks. Now we were heading home so we could go out that night. Tonight was the Orlando Ale house, Laura had a friend who was moving back home so a bunch of people were going out. I had a lot of fun and got in bed around 1:30.
Recap: Today was fun but too bad I didnt do anything at MK. I love Ohanas; I only eat the turkey and shrimp. Me eating pineapple with caramel at the end of meal is something Laura says she will never forget. I love giving tours of the hotels, I think Ive found my calling.
Tomorrow: Animal Kingdom, Epcot and Illuminations!
