We rented two cars on our trip a couple of weeks ago. I checked us both in online and the correct price was on this receipt/email $113.98. However when I returned my car at the end of the week the receipt had $145 and some change. I immediately brought it to the attention to the guy who checked me out. He changed it and all was well. Thank you sir.

But my sister checked her car in that morning because she had an early flight. I contacted her when I arrived home to see what they charged her. Sure enough her receipt at check out was $149.12 and it should have been $113.98. So we're in the process of calling customer service to get this corrected.

So remember to check your receipt at check out and make sure it matches your reservation total. BTW it wasn't the taxes and fees. Upon comparing the receipts the special online gives a $40 discount to the rental rate where as at check out they only gave me a 10% discount on the rental rate.

I know that when I used Budget in Orlando a few years ago, actually in Sanford, all was fine until I got home and saw my email confirmation of the charges. An addtl charge had been added for fuel!! We refueled about 3 miles from the airport so we knew there was plenty of gas...still read full!! When I called them, they tried to tell me that it was a charge for driving less than 70 miles and the fuel. I told them that we had picked up the car in Sanford, drove to Universal Studios, then drove to Cocoa Beach....then to WDW, and then to Tampa and back to WDW and then returned the car at Sanford. I was pretty sure that was over the 70 mile mark. We had actually filled up the car twiced!! They removed the charged immediately. But sad to say, there are times when they do try to get away with something.

I've seen that happen where the mileage is wrong. One time I returned a car that had less miles than when I got it. It would not spit out a receipt so I had to go to the booth. The guy laughed and said "did you just drive the car backwards?".

Another time I picked up a car at the Hilton in Glendale CA. The pickup was in the garage and I didn't notice that it only had 1/4 tank of fuel! I got out on the freeway when I noticed it! I was driving to Irvine and hoped that I didn't hit a traffic jam because I did not want to get off the freeway to look for gas. Luckily the low fuel light came on right after I got off in Irvine and there was a gas station right there. I returned it to the Orange Co airport and I told the attendent what happened about the gas (I just filled it to half, by the time I returned it, it was back down to 1/4). He looked at it and said I drove 600 miles! I said no way, I went from Glendale to Irvine to Orange Co. They ended up waiving the fuel charge (it was a corporate rental) but it taught me a lesson to check the fuel gauge and the mileage, especially off airport. He also said if that happens where the gas is low to call them right away.

Have these charges been taken care of? I would like to look into this further and see if I can assist in some way. Please email me the full details along with your Rental Agreement or Reservation numbers. Also , include the promotion that was not being applied correctly at the time of billing if you have it. Send to: care[at]alamo.com with a good contact email and I will get back to you right away. I look forward to hearing from you. Chris
