Has anyone gone to the Atlantis on there points before. I am buying my friends timeshare at okw and the first year we will have two years worth of points. Also does anyone know how many points it would be to go in August of 2008 for 4 nights. I would like to stay in the harborside. I wonder if that is a hard trip to book. Any help with this question will be great:santa: Thanks Tracy

The Atlantis is awesome! We went last year and stayed in the Royal Towers, we did not use our points.

I think you have to use points and do an II trade. I'm not 100% sure, the DVC member site is done. If its points, then it will vary on what day you check-in, size of room and view.

Depends on what part of August you would want to visit. Summer time is impossible to trade into Atlantis via II.

Hopefully the member site will be up to give you a better answer.

update:

It is an II trade, so it would be a 7 day stay, check-in Fri, Sat or Sun only.

Interval International Exchanges
Reserved Disney Vacation Club Resort accommodations can be exchanged for Interval International® accommodations. Exchange weeks become available when owners at a resort in the Interval International program give up their week for exchange.

When you contact Member Services, a search will be conducted for an instant match.
If an instant match is found, your Vacation Advisor will confirm your exchange.
If an instant match is not found, you may request to have the system continue to search until a suitable match is found.
When a match has been found, it will automatically be confirmed for you and a confirmation letter will be mailed.
Depositing Accommodations for a Future Exchange
With Interval International, you have the option of depositing your reserved Disney Vacation Club Resort accommodations into the exchange system, then deciding later where and when you'd like to travel. When a week is deposited to Interval International 60 days or more from the check-in date, this is known as a "Deposit First." This would provide you with a 2-year window to search for an exchange. However, once deposited, Disney Vacation Club Resort accommodations cannot be withdrawn. In order to take advantage of this deposit option, Disney Vacation Club must have availability to provide Interval International within the Use Year you're utilizing your Vacation Points.

If you deposit accommodations within 60 days of the check-in date of your deposited week, this is considered a "Flex Deposit." In this case, an exchange may be confirmed only by calling Member Services 59 days or less from your requested check-in date.

Exchange Guidelines
Exchanges can be booked on a weekly basis (generally weekend to weekend).

A non-refundable $75 exchange fee is required when an instant match is confirmed or when a system search is initiated.

Getting anything there this short notice would be very difficult anyway. All II exchanges are for 7 days, only the Concierge Collection, DCL, Disney Collection and BVTC can be reserved for other than 7 days and tend to be VERY expensive in terms of the number of points with BVTC being less so than the rest. Atlantis Harbourside is Westin so you might try to find someone to do a direct exchange for the number of days you need.

During the summer months, this is probably the only way you are going to get there, unless you decide to pay cash.

You would have really good luck going in the shoulder seasons....May and September, October

The resort is simply to available very much any time of year but mid to later August is not unworkable if you plan ahead, same for early June.

We have had success the past two years the second week of June. Nothing after that until just before Labor Day. We are using are Westin ownership to try to get in during those times. I'm sure its even tougher for a non-owner to get in during the summer. But you are right, you should plan as far ahead as possible.

Like the DVC points vs cash discussion, there will be different inventories. I know Westin controls the specific weeks deposited to a degree but doubt they hold back summer. An II member might get a week when a Westin non Atlantis owner could not.

Thanks for all your info. So those points are per week not per person or night. That is not bad it does not cost to many points. Now that I understand I am going to try for the Atlantis 160 pts for the week for 4 people not bad tracy
