Atlantis Waterpark Crowds?

For those who have been to Atlantis, can you give me a general idea of the crowd situation? We are cruising in mid May, and will be there on a Saturday. I have booked the waterpark excursion, but am re-thinking it now. I'm afraid the crowds will be so heavy that we will spend more time in line than on the slides, and don't want to spend the day regretting our excursion.

Anyone pleasantly pleased at how well Atlantis is run? Or totally disappointed and ripped off? :confused3

I was there last April. The place is so big, it did not seem too crowded for me. We spent time in lines on the slide but I didn't find it too long. We enjoyed it so much we will be going back on our next cruise.

When we went last June, our only wait was for the water slides that went into the shark tank.

Thanks. Over spring break last week, we went to Soak City in Palm Springs. It was so crowded (and poorly run) that most of our time was spent in line, baking in the hot sun. I know, what should I expect during high season in Palm Springs? I just want to have a better experience with my kids here.

I've been to Atlantis a fair amount. The most important factor is how many ships are in town. Last time I was there, it was only Dream and a smaller Carnival ship that stayed only half the day, and lines were very manageable. When Disney, NCL, and carnival all have ships in port, though, it's not good. 40 minutes for the leap of faith slide in the middle of the day is not uncommon. I would go on NCL's and Carnival's sites and look to see itineraries of the ships that sail to the bahamas on your date and see if they match up. Also, check RCCL. I think, by and large, RCCL and Carnival alternate days in Nassau, but there are some carnival ships other than the Miami and Port Canaveral cruises that end up in Nassau too on random days, like the Fascination from Jacksonville. On a four ship day, I would not try the water park.

I did the Atlantis Aquaventure last June while on the Dream. That day in Nassau there were a total of 5 cruise ships in port. The waterpark was jammed packs, long lines for all the slides, no seats to be found. If I were to do this excursion again, I would look to see how many ships were in port before I chose an activity for the day: http://cruisett.com/ports.php?PortID=455

That link gets posted a lot, but, unfortunately, it's horrible. It's very underinclusive. For example, just look at July. It completely omits RCCL's Monarch, which is in Nassau every Wednesday and Saturday in the summer, and Majesty, which is there every Tuesday and Sunday. Similarly, it omits all Carnival ships, except Oasis and Allure. Sensation goes there twice a week, depending on the week (usually Tuesday and Friday). Imagination and Fantasy, as well as the ships that come in from Baltimore and Galveston, are there several days a month, but not represented on the chart.

:cool1: Looks like The Dream will be the ONLY ship in port for my cruise!! Also shows that is the case for itinerary B on the Dream is always that way!

Note to self: Book Intinerary B Dream for next cruise too! :lmao:

I did some checking on the cruise line websites and found that RCL Monarch of the Seas and a Carnival ship will be in port that day. Fortunately, the Atlantis watermark excursion is not offered on the Monarch (from the website, anyway, it says it is offered on two other ships when in Nassau), so it looks like the Magic and Carnival. Strange, though, that there are no ships listed for Sat., May 12, on that link.

Again, thanks for the tip to check on that. :thumbsup2

Where do you eat lunch at Aquaventure ? When you purchase the tour from DCL, where are the lunch vouchers good for ? What do you get to eat ?
