Just wondering if anyone has done these excursions and which you would recommend? Is the Atlantis worth the extra $50.00 per person? Will my dd(6) enjoy this? Any help is greatly appreciated.

We did the Atlantis submarine in St. Thomas and loved it. We were the last ones to board, so we ended up sitting right behind the pilot who has a huge (probably 6 - 7 foot wide) window in front. The view was fantastic! Our DS was 9 when we did it.

If the Seaworld Explorer is a semi-submersible, we did a similar excursion in Curacao and it was not a pleasant experience. We were seated in the hull of the boat, and since it never submerged, we were rocking with the waves. You're only a few feet under water, instead of almost 80 feet down in the Atlantis sub. We also had fumes from the engine and the A/C was not strong enough. A few people had to go back up on deck. The Atlantis sub has an electric motor, so no possibility of fumes.

I have not done the Seaworld explorer, but Atlantis submarines are great. I've done work on their submarines in the Caymans and Hawaii, so have been on a few (but I don't work for them). It is perfect for families who want to see the underwater fish and reefs, but don't scuba. The submarine is free diving and does NOT stay on the surface, but actually goes underwater to get close to the action. I sent my in-laws on one (forget which one now), and it was the highlight of their trip.

It doesn't look like DCL is offereing the Seaworld Explorer as an excursion in Grand Cayman anymore, just the Nautilus and the Atlantis submarine.
