Atlantis...pls help me decide..

Typically, the least expensive way to visit Atlantis is to book a room that you will never use at the Comfort Suites, across the street from Atlantis. They have full use of the waterparks and charging at Atlantis, and you can often get a room there for around $200 for a family of four.

I concur, and we did the same thing, except that the price of a single night at the Comfort Suites has gone up quite a bit, and it's often $350 or more, all in, for a family of four. It was a little over $400 for us because my older son is considered an adult. Still a lot cheaper than the Disney excursion, to be sure. And obviously it varies by season.

You also can just go to Atlantis and wander around, which is what we did when we stayed on Paradise Island. I haven't been on the guided tour, so I'm not sure what that provides. If you go to Atlantis, you can walk through the aquarium areas, shops and casino. There are restaurants but, as a PP mentioned, the prices are very high for what you get in my opinion. You can't access the beach. You can't access the dolphin area either, but there is a little cafe where you could sit and see others interact with the dolphins from a distance.

There's also a free public beach located next to Atlantis.

They won't let you walk through the aquarium without a pass during the day. At night, after Aquaventure closes, most of the resort opens up for visitors, but during the day you need a wristband to visit the Royal Towers or the aquarium. The casino and the shops and restaurants of the Coral Towers and Beach Towers are accessible during the day without a pass.

I'm interested in doing the Catamaran sail and snorkel. How was the snorkeling? Did you see a lot of fish? Is it a sheltered spot?

It was my first time snorkeling, so I don't have a lot to compare it to. I enjoyed it. There were several fish around - a few different kinds. I'm not sure what you mean by "sheltered" - we were over a reef. There were a couple of other boats in the area, but it wasn't too crowded.

Thank you about the info on comfort suites! I am so tempted!!! Definitely a lot cheaper than going thru dcl's excursion! But a little concerned about the what ifs...

So I started reading various posts about it, checked comfort suites' website, and did some "research"...and ran the idea by dh... :flower:

I just reserved a room at Comfort Suites, to head to Atlantis. We got an AA rate of $250 for the one-night (which we won't be staying), but with all the taxes and fees it adds up to $319 total, for three. Still, that's a lot cheaper than going with the Disney excursion, and also, I'm told — ? anyone know if this is true? — you can get to Atlantis and into the water park earlier in the day via Comfort Suites.

You can definitely get to Atlantis going the Comfort Suites route versus booking with DCL. Be ready to get off the ship as soon as you are able, grab a cab to CS and check in/out and walk over to Atlantis. Easy peasy and you will be there WELL before the DCL crowd.

I loved the water park there. The time I went there were 3 ships in port and I rarely waited more than 5 minutes for any slide. The food is pricey.

I would like to go back again but my kids will need to be older so they can enjoy all the rides.
