Atlantis on Concierge list ??

Yes, DOOGIERUNNER Please let us know how your reservations go tomorrow. Are you looking at the end of June? I think I am going to try for that but have not made a final decision yet. I wonder just how much availability they will have for point reservations at this point. Good Luck with your plans and please let us know how it goes. Thanks!

ClarrabelleCow Thanks for your response about Harborside being more quiet. I guess you had the best of both worlds. Good for you!

I initially looked at the number of points needed to make a DVC reservation at the Royal Towers and figured out that for $135+ per night at conference rate
was the way to go for my up coming trip this Saturday. I prefer to save my points for Disney rather than exchange them at such a high rate.
We've stayed at Atlantis before and although it is ridiculously expensive ie. for the "rich & famous", it is a awesome place to be.

hbg4 It sounds like you got a great deal for the Royal towers. Can I ask what the conference rate is all about? Thanks. I hope you have a great time.
DOOGIERUNNER I was thinking about you today and wondering if you called MS and were able to make your reservation. I am curious to hear how it went. I keep checking airfare for my already planned Disney trip for Feb. and am very discouraged (Very HIgh) so it looks like I may cancel and try for Atlantis on points, but for the summer, hoping that the airfare there in the summer will not be too high.

Yes, I called MS today about res. I've put in a request for a week in early June. MS confirms availability then sends the res onto Atlantis (I think this is how all the concierge collection works). We'll hear back with a confirmation in two days. It's an additional 7 points/night for children over 11.

Like I said I think this is a great point value. I called 3 weeks ago for the same week, before I knew this was on our exchange list and the cheapest rack rate was $429 + an additional $45/night for children over 11.

Thanks for the reply and thanks for the heads up about children over 11 since DS will be 13. So now I may have to only plan for 6 nights rather than 7. Thanks and again good luck!! :flower:

Another thought is to head over to the tug website and see if some wants to trade DVC for starwood!!! you would use less points! But have you gone directly to the Atlantis website, or contacted the airlines websites, I know AA, Delta and US Air also offer vacations and you can sometimes do alot better.

AAA is offering $849 PP for 4 days, 3 nights that includes air from CT. To give that some meaning you can fly to Vegas, stay for the same amount of time in the Aladdin for $435 PP almost 1/2 price. I would not go to the place unless you liked gambling which I do.

Pa@okw I thought I heard because of all the water facilities that it is a great family place as well. I know many families that have gone to Atlantis and did not even mention a casino to me. Do you really feel that is the draw for many people? Do you think many go there to gamble? I have never been to Vegas myself and do not know if I ever will get there, however, I thought Atlantis would be great for my dh and ds who love water activities and I enjoy the beach.

As far as price, I know using points for anything other than DVC is not a great value, however, I feel having DVC we would probably never get to Atlantis because we would not want to put out extra money for vacations. As far as renting and using that money, I do not want to deal with renting hundreds of points out. I guess I look at this as an opportunity to get to a place I have heard many good things about and it would give dh a break from Disney, as I am the one who enjoys it the most. Thanks for your input! :flower:

I just got back from the Disney Wonder cruise and some Diser's on our ship got a 'day room' at the Comfort Suites next to the Atlantis because it was a much more affordable hotel but they have 'privalages' at Atlantis to use their beach and pools. I thought that was a great tip for someone who wants to experience the resort but is not to picky about their room and doen't want to pay such high prices. From what I read, it is a short walk to the Atlantis pools so it is very convenient.

Also, some people were able to book a room at Atlantis for $99 per night via 'Expedia' or 'Travelocity' travel site (I can't remember which one) so deals for this resort can be had without using valueable points (if that is what you want)

Thanks for your reply Lisa. I hope you had a great cruise. Yes, I have heard of people staying at the Comfort Suites, saving money and still being able to use the Atlantis facilities. I think I would like to try to stay onsite, though, but I will check prices out for Atlantis, as you mentioned. Thanks again for your input!! :)

I did have a great cruise and can't wait to go again. I would love to stay at the Atlantis in the future...when my kids are older and can enjoy their pools. I do think that if we ever go back to Nassau via cruise ship, I would definately book a day room at the Comfort Suites just to use the Atlantis facilites. I am sure you will have a fabulous time staying at Atlantis. Please let us know if you got any great deals. I know the $99/per night that was hyped on the cruise boards ended in August but you never know what other deals could be out there....

you are correct in that there is more than gambling. The place is absolutely huge- huge pools, slides, beaches, walk-through aquariums, alot of water toys and more
