Atlantis Deal

Thank you so much for sharing ... we were able to take advantage of this great deal!

Happy Cruising!

Thanks so much for posting this. I just booked a room @179.00 for our up-coming Wonder stop in early Feb. I am canceling the room I previously booked at Comfort Suites for 176.00!! Plus since they only allow four to a room, I was having to purchase a day pass for our 5th family member. Atlantis allows 5 to a room, so I'm good to go! Thanks again--gotta love the DISfamily that shares and shares alike!!

I called to book this special. But I would only save about $60.00 compared to their day pass. Family of five, our kids are 12, 6, 1. Also it is not refundable. I just could not chance it. What if it's cold or rainy. Maybe next time.

Thanks for the info- I didn't know Atlantis allowed 5 in a room. Maybe that will be my Spring 2009 vacation. :goodvibes :goodvibes

I'm new at this, please help... explain how the "day pass" works, cost, and is that something you call Atlantis direct to book? I saw the $179 deal was available for the day we will be there, but there are 3 adults and 2 kids in our party, so would that still work? (The deal appeared to only come up when I put in 2 adults and 2 kids). Thanks! :)

Someone please tell me what is the big deal about Atlantis? Why would I want to get a room there while I am on a cruise? Am I missing something here:thumbsup2

I'll put my 2 cents in, but I'm sure there are others with lots more info, like JeanneB and Craftymouse to name a couple. Anyway, someone passed on the smartertravel link and I booked a "sale" room at Comfort Suites on Nassau for 176.00 a few days ago. Today, someone passed on a travlezoo link and I was able to book a room at the Atlantis for 179.00 instead. As I understand it, both hotels are owned by Atlantis, and guests at the "less expensive" Comfort Suites have access to the great amenities at the Atlantis. The drill is to check in at CS (and check out at the same time, if you wish) and get your wristbands and head on over to enjoy Atlantis. Difference between 2 hotels is that CS allows 4 to a room and Atlantis allows 5, meaning that this is the number of wristbands you are allowed. So, for me the Atlantis deal was so much better because now, not only do I not have to buy a "day pass" at Atlantis for our 5th family member, I can also just go straight to Atlantis from the boat. I also read other threads that mentioned the availability question of day passes, which I guess could change day to day. I don't know the cost or what you are allowed to use with this type of pass.
Now as for the reason to check into a hotel on a cruise- personal preference. Didn't feel that some Nassau activities were suitable to my kids ages/tastes. Did not want to really venture out on our own. Didn't feel we'd really vacation at Atlantis for extended period of time, although did not know the deals you could get. My kids love water parks, pools, slides. While its an added expense to the cruise, I felt they'd get what they want and I'd feel like I was actually in a part of Nassua, and DH would be happy cuz we're happy! Sorry this post is so long- just trying to explain options/reasons.

When did Atlantis start allowing 5 people to a room? When we went in 05, the rule was 4 per room. And, they didn't sell day passes. Is that new too? Back then you had to reserve a room for the night (actually book a room). I too got a travelzoo special...back then it was $99! Our family of 4 booked through travelzoo. Imagine our surprise when we arrived at the ship to find our itinerary had changed. We would now be arriving at nassau one day later to avoid Hurricane Rita. I immediately called the travelzoo # that I had used when I booked and told them our situation. I asked if they could transfer the booking over to the next day at the same $99 rate. They did!!! That was awesome!

We went in Sept 05 and I have to say everyone loved it. The aquariums were sooo cool. The kids loved walking the grounds and seeing all the little aquariums and even the grotto like one with a tunnel underground. The pools were practically deserted (day after Rita) and we had no lines on the slides. We mainly hung out at the Leap of Faith. There are kiddie slides on the opposite side of that, so DH & I would take turns going back and forth to the big slide. We brought our soft sided cooler from the ship with drinks/snacks for the day. We even showered in our room before we left.

One tip though...I've heard you can ask they either turn off the sensor on the room refrigerator or something like that. Because walking by real quick can signal the sensor and they think you ate/drank something out of their refrigerator. When we got home, our cc had some room refrigerator charges on there, but we had barely been in the room, and since we brought our own, we didn't take anything out of the room fridge. Atlantis was cool about deleting those charges though so it all worked out. I would do it again. It was one of those places I wanted to visit at least once in my lifetime & I did!

Wow I am wondering if we should do this. Our kids are little but my son would love to swim in the kiddie pools. He would also freak for the aquarium. He is really in love with fish. We really had no plans to get off the ship (not much to do with a 2.5 year old and a 7 mos old) but I know we could enjoy Atlantis for a day. Does anyone have any thoughts?

vossjemi,
Don't know when it would have changed, but I recall seeing a thread around here in the last couple of weeks that mentioned CS allowing 4, but Atlantis allowing 5. When I input my info to book online, it accepted it for only 1 room, so it works for me. I also called to verify about the extra housekeeping charges that you pay at check-in and we reviewed my ressie and all was well, so I'm thinking 5 is the lucky number.
Please tell me about the Leap of Faith. I'm not much of a slide fan- too chicken, but my DH and sons (10 and 8) love them. I'm actually worried for my 8 year old. He's got the height for it, but he's a whopping 54 pounds soaking wet! Did you get beat up much?
Thanks,
Janet

I had priced out the comfort suites in the past, how much further of a walk is it to the water park area/beach than Atlantis would be...is there a shuttle to it from the hotel?

when if called them i tried to explain that i only wanted the room for access to use the atlantis facilities; was trying to figure out what day to book...since the person i spoke to kept telling me we couldn't check in until the afternoon.:confused3 never thought about checking in & back out @ the same time - you'd think they'd be thrilled they didn't have to turn the room over.:thumbsup2

CS is next door to Atlantis so it's a short walk to the front door of Atlantis, less than 5 minutes.

You book the day you're arriving but you can check in early, we checked in at noontime but I know some people check in even earlier. Your room may not be ready but they'll at least give you the pass you need to present at Atlantis to get your wristbands. Personally, I don't like checking in and out at the same time because it's nice to freshen up and change out of wet clothes before taking a land taxi or the ferry back to the ship. It might add 15 minutes at the end of your day to walk to the CS and check out.

I just called Atlantis and they told me the Day Passes are $105.00 per adult and $75.00 for children ages 4 - 11. They are available on a first come, first served basis and cannot be purchased in advance.
The $179 deal allows only 4 people to a room. If for example, you put in 3 adults and 2 kids, or just 3 adults, it is $229. I think tax is additional. Hope that helps. ;)
