Atlantis Beach Day...Half Vs. Full?

What is the difference between the Atlantis half beach day vs full beach day? Is it basically just the meal? Are people really timing how long you stay on the beach?

Someone will correct me if I misunderstood - but I believe 1/2 day is offered only when the ship is there for 1/2 a day, and full day is the only option if the ship is there the full day. On my upcoming cruise, we are there a full day, and there is only one option for each type of Atlantis excursion. I'm not sure how they would know if you paid for a 1/2 vs full day if you purchased outside of DCL, but I suspect that means 1/2 days are only offered via cruiseline excursions.
