We're going to take a water taxi to Atlantis. Is there a charge to go through the Aquarium or whatever it's called? I didn't see anything on the website.

The charge the last time we did it was $25 for adults. It might have gone up a few dollars since then. This allowed you access to The Dig (the aquarium) as well as the grounds (but not the pools or slides).

My personal opinion - don't take the water taxi. A land taxi will drop you right at the door (the water taxi drops you off a block or so away). Plus the most people you'll have in a land taxi is 8-10. On the water taxi's they pack you in like sardines. JMHO.

We took the water taxi to the Atlantis and I wouldn't recommend it either. It took forever and we still had a good 10 to 15 minute walk to the Atlantis. I don't know if it's true for every water taxi, but both ours going over and coming back employed a local "tour guide". He pointed out a few local landmarks and then went around to each person to collect a tip for his knowledge. I know everyone down there is trying to make a living, but I felt a bit uncomfortable with it.

i'd take a reg. taxi, but we'll have a 2 yo with us and no car seat for the taxi. I'm not sure if going to Atlantis is even worth it. (we were just oing to stroll Nassau and a few stores and head back to the ship) We live about 1.5 hrs from the Nat'l Aquarium in Baltimore (an awesome aquarium!) so we can always go there. But do you ever get that feeling like you HAVE to do something just because you are there? My 9 yo DD saw Atlantis on MK & Ashley movie and we'll probably never go back there, but $25 (is that per person?) is a lot to check out the hotel and see fish. I have paid that for the Baltimore Aquarium, but you get more there. Would you do it or do it again? BTW, than you!

We really enjoyed the aquarium and the architecture of Alantis itself. Once your tour is over you can go through the aquarium over and over again at your own pace. We did it a second time so we could relax and see it at our own pace.It is done in a very unusual style.
We took the water taxi over and enjoyed the narrated ride. Our guide never asked for any tips. They had a jar by the exit if you wanted to drop in something. We enjoyed the walk to Atlantis and we walked in a couple of shop on the way. The water taxi ran continuously for several hours so there was no need to rush. There were a couple of shops where you catch the water taxi to browse in too.
We also walked up 2 blocks behind the straw market to the Pirate Museum. $12.00 per person. It was really a great museum, if your into pirate history. The pirate who greeted us was a real hoot!! The horse drawn carriage ride was nice for my DH and myself. It was about 25 minutes long and was $10 per person. We did a $5 tip at the end. We have also done the historical city tour. That was a very good tour. We saw a lot of the island, had a very informative guide and a nice air-conditioned van to ride in. I don't remember the price, but I do remember thinking it was well worth the money.
If you take a regular taxi, be sure and get the price up front and be prepared to pay for the toll on the bridge too, and the taxi drivers are very adamit about getting tips too.
Hope you have a magical cruise!

Last week, we took a taxi from the ship to Atlantis to view the aquariums. My wife and I took the awter taxi a few years ago and it was a long walk. The land taxi was $5 per person and he did not ask us to pay bridge toll. They did not ask for or act like they expected a tip. The cost for the tour was $29 for adults. Actually, there is an excursion that the ship now offers for $32 I believe that included a bus transportation from this ship and they did a short tour of the city for about 15 minutes. Some friends of ours did this. We decided to go on our own because we could get back to the ship earlier because my sons wanted to be back for an activity in the Childrens clubs.

We took a land taxi (van) packed in like sardines with a family and two! of their strollers. Cost was $4 each.
Delivered us to the door of one of the towers. We followed the signs thru the "shopping district" and casino to get to the Royal Towers. There is a dining area there with "free fish" to view. (about 6 windows worth)
We saw the largest mantaray, some sharks, and other fish. My DD11 just wanted to see the place because of a MaryKate and Ashley video made there (Holiday in the Sun). She got a photo frame and pen. Then we had a van taxi to ourselves for $4 each on the return trip. Atlantis-free, taxis-$24, her memories-priceless.
