OK, so I guess I overbid. I messed up and now I'm upset. It's my
first time on Priceline and our first time to Atlanta.

After some guidance from helpful people here on the Community Board, I decided that we wanted to stay in the Buckhead area.
Our family of four (mom, dad, DS1 age 13, DS2 age 9) often stays in the "suite" hotels, AmeriSuites, Homewood Suites, etc. so I
decided to bid on a 2.5* hotel. I first listed a bid of $49.00 night
for a 2.5* Buckhead only. I got a message back that said I had
minimal chance of getting a Buckhead 2.5* for our time period
(4/23-4/27, week after Easter). So I got scared off and raised
my bid to $60.00 night. My $60 bid was accepted and we were
placed at Sierra Suites Lenox. Now my worst fears were realized as a check of the Sierra Suites website indicated that the Lenox
location has no rooms with more than one bed and only selected
rooms have sofabeds in them. I e-mailed the hotel and was at
least happy to have someone get back to me quickly. I was told
that Priceline only books their standard room but that we were
now assigned to a room with a Queen and a sofabed. We'll make
do, but my 13 y/o always complains when he has to sleep on a
sofabed. (Then again what else is new, he complains about everything:) ) I guess we'll bring his sleeping bag and camp mat
with us. To top it all off, the Sierra Suites website had an internet special for that hotel of $59.00 a night! Now I wouldn't
have booked them directly because of the single bed situation
and also it doesn't appear that they are right in Buckhead anyway
from what I can see on the map. I probably would have gone
with AmeriSuites but they're in the $129 and up range had I
booked directly.

Can anyone give me some reassurance about the hotel, its location and also that I'm not totally getting ripped off? Any input
from people familiar with Atlanta would be appreciated. Thanks
for listening to me vent.

We stay downtown in Atlanta, so I can't give you advice on that hotel, but I will say that when priceline gives me that "minimal chance" thing (which you almost always get btw), I always lower my bid a dollar!

I am pretty sure I know exactly where the Sierra Suites is. If I am right it borders over into Brookhaven. That said it is a nice location. If I am correct, there is a Jock N Jills sports bar just across the street and a Kroger.

However, I am afraid you have learned a few lessons about priceline. 1. IGNORE their stupid feedback. I have never bid anywhere near what they think it will cost! 2. You are only guranteed 1 bed. If you must have more than one don't use Priceline. Most of the people here have used it for Disney where the hotels probably have a higher than normal average number of rooms with two beds since it is a family rather than a business destination.
