Also, I believe some districts will have summer sessions taking place for a few children. It might be useful to view the type of therapy that is taking place there.

I really appreciate all your replies. I am going to Atlanta in a couple of weeks to check out some schools and would appreciate any experiences (positive or negative) for the following 3 schools in Alpharetta:

Alpharetta Elementary,
Manning Oaks Elementary,
Summit Hill Elementary

My son is a 7-year old high functioning Autistic boy. We were hoping
to place him in the Lion Heart school but they do not have room for
him. Do any of these public schools use methodologies other than ABA?

These are all going to be good schools.

Alpharetta ES http://www.alpharettaelementary.com/index.htm and http://www.alpharettaelementary.com/index.htm has been a center school and therefore will have the complete range of services. It is an older school, one of the oldest in the area. It is located close to downtown Alpharetta in a more established part of town. The last time I went there they had a great number of children needing PT and lots of equipment. I am not familiar with your therapy but maybe they are incorporating.

Manning Oaks http://www.manningoaks.com/ and Summit Hill http://www.fultonschools.org/school/summithill/ are both newer schools. While all your IEP needs will be met you may find that their therapists do travel among schools and there may not be a 5 day a week schedule...if this is part of what you are looking for in your therapy. Be sure to ask the numbers of days the therapists are on site !!
