Has anyone ever attended one of the Braves exibition games at Disneys Wide World of Sports Complex. We will be down their in a couple of weeks and I saw that they had some games. Just wanted some info on facilities and atmosphere.

Thanks.

We love spring training baseball and attended Atlanta vs. Dodgers day game at Wide World of Sports. It is a beautiful facility, although it is quite hot if you get seats in the sun. I think Disney could do more with this facility, but it is really just the stadium, some shopping (w/ some great alternative t-shirts) and the All-Star restaurant. We had lunch there before the game & I urge you to get a PS because it was really crowded. The food was OK, but I bet the only time All Star is crowded is prior to a game. They have some interesting memorabilia displayed as you wait to be seated (Yes, even w/ a PS)

We went in March, 2001 and caught a Braves vs. Tigers game. I had always wanted to go to spring training. I really enjoyed the event. We went early and watched the practice and then stayed to watch the game. The guys would come over an sign a little and then go back to work. The only thing I wished that I had planned for was the abrupt temp drop. We went from a nice 70's day to a 35 night. I was freezing my legs off in those shorts! Go and enjoy yourself. Mickey

Spring Training at WWOS RULES! Major league game + Minor league-sized stadium = fans are in very close proximity to the superstars of America's Passtime! The stadium is beautiful, also!

Thanks to everyone. Two more weeks to go.

Have a great Disney Day.

We have gone the past 2 years with DD8 and DS4 and we all loved it!! There's plenty of Disney hospitality for everyone plus we got to see our favorite team play!! We'll be going again this year in March.:bounce:

We went to a Braves night spring training game two years ago, and I agree about the temp drop - we were glad we wore jeans. We enjoyed the game a lot. If you are planning to go to a game, I'd advise you to go online and order your tickets ahead of time. We did that, and were glad we did because the game was sold out. I'm not sure if that game was an exception - maybe they all aren't sold out - but that was our experience. We were able to pick up our tickets at the will-call window, and by ordering ahead of time, we were able to get decent seats.

We'll be down there again in March, and are planning to go see the Red Sox play Cleveland at Winter Haven. If you are a big baseball fan, you can't beat Spring Training, because you are just so much closer to the players than you can usually get during the regular season.

Enjoy!

I've never been but at the AK last Monday, I was in the store where you pick up your pictures, and Derek Lowe from the Red Sox and family were in line a few people ahead of me. It was very exciting- I was shaking like a leaf, but he posed for a picture with me. My BF was waiting outside the store searching for pins to trade and missed the whole thing!!!

Go SOX!!

Thia will be the first time we will be down there suring Spring Training. My DH and both DSs would just die to see a game.

What would be the best way to get tickets. The best day for them to go is 3/6 but they are playing the Florida Marlins. Will this be a sell out? Should we purchase our tickets in advance and pick up at will call or just trot up to the ticket venue at WDWWWS?

Thanks for any info and tips!!

Doing It Again in 15 days!!!:Pinkbounc

When we went two years ago, we purchased our tickets through Ticketmaster.com. I was glad we did it ahead of time, because
when we got there, the game was sold out.

If you really want to go, I would suggest doing the same as we did. Then you don't have to worry.

Have fun!

I'm not a big Braves fan, but the games are great!!!! I actually got to work for a few games last year (yep, i got paid for watching a few games :p ). I ushered a few games. It was really really nice, and the games were great!! :D
