My family of 8 is flying from LAX (Nov. 23) to MCO. We change planes in Atlanta. We have a 1 hour layover between flights (Delta). Also, my sister is leaving from Milwaukee and connecting through Atlanta as well. We all take the same flight from Atlanta to MCO. She has a 1 hour layover as well. My question is: Is this airport hard to maneuver? Will an hour be enough time? I heard this airport is very large. With my luck I will come in on gate A and leave on gate Z! Any suggestions?

If your flights are on time, you should have plenty of time. The airport is very easy to maneuver. You will find your way around easily. Delta's main Concourse is Concourse A, so there is a good chance that you will come in on the same concourse, or on the concourse right next to it. There is a subway-like tram that connects all the concourses so it wont take you long to make your connection.

This is the most traveled airport in the world, so expect it to be crowded. They prepared it well to handle the crowds of the 96 olympics, so you shouldn't have any problems.

Others may tell you different, but we did not have any problems on Monday. We came in on concorse B, I'm figuring, and hopped the train/tram to concorse D. Dh asked me if I wanted to walk it.....I looked at him and asked if he was nuts. LOL Just make sure you try to stay towards the doors. I was worried we were not going to be able to get off because of the number of people on the tram. We only had an hour between Delta flights and we did fine. Had enough time to smoke a few cigs while we waited.

What I did notice is when we flew down, we delt with Concorse E and it was much nicer than C. We smoke and in C we were in the "fish bowl" smoking area where I had to leave just to get a breath of fresh air. When we flew down and were in E, we had a room with table and descent lighting and there wasn't much smoke in the room. (It was a packed room, too)

Thanks for the tips! Especially about the one on the subway tram. I hate to push people out of the way and tend to go around and around to get where I'm going. So I will make sure to keep my family toward the door. Thanks again!

The last few times I have gone thru Atlanta to Orlando, the Orlando plane has left at Concourse E. This is the international concourse; I think the bigger planes they use to go to MCO usually need to be at this concourse. They seem to be very good about holding the plane a few minutes if any of the incoming connecting flights run a little late. I was nervous the first time I flew thru Atlanta having heard about how huge it was, but it really is very easy to negotiate quickly.

TTFN: Thanks for the info, I had noticed that was the gate they left from too. The website shows the gate information. I just hope I go into that one as well. Again, thanks for the tips.
