I have set my Atkins start date as July 1st ( my birthday is on Monday so i wanted to be able to enjoy my 21st before starting this!) We leave for WDW on Sept 27th and my goal is to lose 30lbs before we go. My questions for those of you that are on or tried Atkins is...
1. How long did it take for you to start "feeling" better?
2. How long did it take to get used to the diet change?
3. Does it get easier to see people around you eat the things you want to?
4. Generally how long did it take for you to start noticing weight lose?

I am VERY excited to make this change for myself and I can't wait to get started!!

I felt awful on Atkins. :sad1:
2. How long did it take to get used to the diet change?I never really did with Atkins.
3. Does it get easier to see people around you eat the things you want to?With any diet, yes it does, but I am not often in situations where I cant have anything.

I lost a few pounds right away and then my weight loss stalled completely.

Sorry OP, I hated Atkins. I did it about 6 years ago and I blame it for my delay in weight loss. I was joining the military and needed to lose just about 3-5 more pounds to hit my weight and I could not get it off. IMO the body needs carbs.
I wish you luck on whatever method you use.

1. about a week and a half.
2. 2-3 weeks
3. absolutely! Once you realize you're never hungry, and get used to how good you feel without carbs, you stop missing them. My birthday is coming up, and I don't even want cake! I'm planning homemade ice cream and berries, and will enjoy every bite of it!
4. 2 days.

I've been low carb since mid-May and I can't imagine going back. I've done SBD in the past, but I feel so much better this time around. I only had 13 pounds to lose, and am about half way there now. It's harder the closer you get to goal.
Read "Why we get fat, and what to do about it" by Gary Taubes. Heck, google him and read his articles.
Be sure to drink broth or otherwise increase your sodium intake, especially in the summer. You lose sodium on low carb diets, and that makes you feel dizzy and "off", especially during the summer!
