I just started my second week of induction. The past few days I have been tired, little weak...I looked at my journal and saw my carbs were low, and I am wondering if I need to force more? I am just not that hungry!

It really is best to get the full 20 in AND to have it come from the veggie sources as much as possible. Part of the tiredness is just the process of your body shedding the glycogen stores in your muscles and liver and switching from burning glucose for the primary fuel source to burning FAT. Usually folks feel alot more energy once that conversion process gets done. The 20 carbs from veggies etc will help you feel full, provide nutrients you need, and will help this transition go smoothly.

Wishing you success.

I agree. You should try & get as close to 20 per day as possible. If you're not getting enough carbs, you will tend to feel tired. You'll also notice that you'll lose faster if you get a few more carbs. Otherwise your body will go into starvation mode, and will stop losing.

Good luck!! :) :)

I actually find that my slugishness doesn't have much to do with carb intake at all. In fact -- when I eat too many carbs I get MORE sluggish. I find that what helps me the best is to eat protein and fat sources more often throughout the day. It's just a trial and error to see what works best for your individual body.
:D

I try to eat something ever 4 hours. Cheese, bacon, tuna, whatever. I don't go longer than 4 hours without eating some small portion of protein.

Well, that's what I do now. I made the mistake of telling everyone in a WISH chat that I had forgotten to eat all day, I got scolded. Now I eat every 4 hours :)

During my induction phase I never went over 10g of carbs. In fact I usually was under 5g.

The foods I ate filled me up and I didn't try to keep the carbs down that low. In fact, I am still under 20g most days and I am under my goal weight.

I find it hard to eat that many carbs in a day with my current diet.

Should I too be eating more carbs, even though I do not seem to need them. I am not tired nor hungry.

Just a side note I am down over 30 pounds using my current diet. So, I guess the starvation mode hasn't hit my body. :)

I did the Atkins to support my wife in her attempt to lose weight and I am glad I did. I can fit into the same size jeans I wore in high school. that is pretty darn cool if you ask me.
