Tammie asked me to post this (shes gone off to work):
Do you watch the calories? She says she's "up there"

Also whats allowed for fruit? strawberries? (ok so thats my ?)

No, on Atkins we don't count calories. But, as your appetite decreases naturally, then you will naturally be eating less calories! :)

As for fruit: No fruit during the first 2 weeks of Induction. After that, it is ok in small amounts as long as you count the carbs. Berries (blueberries, raspberries, strawberries) are the lowest in carbs.

Best thing is to buy the book and read at least the first three chapters, just to get going and find out what you can/can't eat during the Induction period.

IGTD-

Have you read Dr. Atkins book? I think you'll find the answers to lots of the questions you've asked on this board about Atkins and nutrition in general there.

Thanks to everyone on these boards........the info here is great and sometimes I feel like I dont need the book just by reading all the first hand info out there.............I have always tried to watch my weight..........but in the last year 10 pounds appeared out of now where and I can't make them leave.......

Anyways, I have always been careful about what I eat and feel that I "did" have a fairly healthy eating habit...........until I signed on to fitday.com and that totally opened  my eyes that maybe my habits werent as good as I thought.

So I decided after a few weeks of reading the boards and logging on the fitday that I would give Atkins a try....and when the calories were higher than ever I guess it worried me.........

And I have read that calories don't matter on Atkins its the carbs that matter....well I am trying to cut them down and it really isnt easy reading all the labels and trying to figure out what "net carbs" actually are.................But I will keep reading and see if the library has the book and read from there...

Thanks again for so much info here on the boards..

Tammie

I just wanted to say best wishes and encouragement to you.

I agree with the above posters.

Dr. Atkins does say that you don't have a right to over eat, which is what I might be doing.

Ray :)

I have lots of links on my webpage [linked below] that might be helpful to you until you get a chance to get the book. I have a feeling the library may be all checked out as it seems to be very popular right now. The paperback book is less than $10 and is nice to have around to refer to often.
:D
