Atkins and WW- Can they co-exist? Let's find out?

I had a real hard time dragging myself out of bed this morning for my walk and I know that it's because when I was off the wagon I was in carbo-overload and my body is just dragging.

So I need to bump up my protein. Since I am going away for 2 weeks on August 11th I thought, as I walked this morning, that I would count my ww points and eat as close to Atkins foods for the next 3 weeks. All I have to do is get my Atkins book off the shelf again and remind myself of the dos and don'ts. I probably won't be doing the induction part, but we'll see.

Anyway, since I know this WW and Atkins together question comes up here from time to time, I thought I would keep a journal on the WISH board.

I will begin posting there tonite. I'll let you know what I ate and how my body feels.

Keep an eye out if you are interested and comments/suggestions will always be welcome.:)

Good luck, Annie! :)

Stay away from those snacks! ha ha! :)

I too am trying to cut my carbs while doing weight watchers. I haven't had any junky late night snacks in a while, and try to keep it to natural fat free yogurt (it does have milled sugar in it, but it's also got some fiber, calcium and soy protein) so it has to be better than a "skinny cow" or something like that.

I have been trying to make better choices like at lunch yesterday where I opted for a frilled chicken salad without crutons, (with sunflower seeds), instead of the grilled chicken sandwich.

I did end up eating a whole wheat veggie tortilla with dinner last night.

I also bought the South Beach Diet book, and really enjoyed reading about how carbs effect us.

I don't think I will ever do the strictest phase, at least not yet because WW's is working for me. I am happy though that I am learning about lower carb eating from everyone. I have learned so much from everyone!

I will be looking at this as 3 weeks of detox. Then I will add fiber and dairy back in a little at a time. I'm hoping once the cravings are gone I can keep them gone.

I do remember when I tried Atkins before, my cravings were completely gone and I usually had to remind myself to eat.

I know the first few days will be really hard. I'm hoping by Friday or Saturday I'll be over it.

Annie-Great idea to keep a journal on the boards for this. I'm sure there will be a lot of people interested in seeing how it goes. I'm sending you lots of PD and will look forward to seeing your journals and then your results.

Annie...I am VERY interested in how this works for you.!! I really think a combo of the two plans does sound the best...BUT it seems like a LOT of hard work. (planning, figuring out if low fat vs low carb..etc.).

Please keep posting...and let us me know if it is something that you think you could "keep up" with. That has always been my problem...I can do anything for a week or two...than...right downhill.

Thanks In Advance!!

It will be interesting Tracy. I do think it may be all about awareness and focus and I don't think it will be too hard.........we'll see.

Stay tuned........:)

Thank you....

You are right...it is going to be about awareness and focus....that is a positive way to put it!!!, I like it!!!
