Indianapolis) - ATA may be leaving Chicago.

Our news gathering partners at the Indianapolis Business Journal report that the airline is considering pulling out of its Midway airport hub. Just two months ago, ATA began offering expanded service there after Midway invested millions in additional gates for ATA's international flights. But financial troubles continue to plague the Indianapolis-based airline.

Currently, ATA has about 3,600 employees in Illinois.

I'm sorry to hear this. I used to be a flight attendant for ATA and have many friends there still who would be affected. :(

They ARE pulling out of Midway. The local paper reports they've already contacted a law firm about giving up their 14 gates and getting out or their leases for 30 of it's planes. ATA has made no coment, but this looks like a done deal.

ATA is really hurting. Hope they find a way to survive. Rumor is that they may try to go "charter only" to avoid chapter 11.

ACK!!!! I love flying ATA out of Midway!! I will be really upset if they do pull out of Chicago.:(

ATA is denying that they are pulling out of Midway. They continue to state that they are committed to Chicago. I have read that they are trying to sell off their commuter airline also known as Chicago Express. It would be shocking for them to pull out of Midway completely as that is their largest base and they have more flights out of Chicago then anywhere else.
