Does anybody have any feedback on ATA Airlines? We're thinking of flying with them from JFK to Cancun in the spring because of their rates and haven't heard much about them. Any information would be helpful.

ATA Airlines, formerly American Trans Air, has been in business a long time. They used to feature extensive service between Chicago-Midway and Indianapolis down to various Florida cities. Now their nitch has returned them to their roots of long-haul and charter service, often in conjunction with Southwest Airlines. You can read all about them on Wikipedia, with this link:

I flew ATA to Hawaii through SWA last month. Never again. They had the worst airport service that I have ever experienced. It was so bad that I vowed I'd never fly SWA as long as they were affiliated with them. I've calmed down a bit, and of course will fly SWA, but will not--under any circumstances--fly ATA again.

The flight was fine, but was absolutely no frills. Assigned seating was nice. If you want a snack, though, bring it from home or be prepared to pay for it. It was the personnel at the airport that I had problems with.
