At what time do you give up on a waitlist?

We are waitlisted for a 1bd concierge for Dec 19-26th. I know its a long shot but was not planned at 11 months since we didn't have enough points but we did an add on and decided to try for at the 10 month mark. Now I am asking because we are talking about adding a day and maybe trying BLT for half or all of the trip if that is available at 7 months. If we do concierge we will not be doing the dining plan at all but if we don't get it we will and will be making more ADRs.

I want to get it all planned and figured out. So I figured I would just cancel the waitlist if it doesn't come through at about the 6 month mark. I figure the 7 month mark is my best bet anyway and I knew it was a long shot to begin with so I don't really have my hopes up about getting it. I am more excited to just plan it all and get all my ADRs that I want and maybe even seeing about trying a new resort. So if I give it up would that be silly? Or should I just change it and maybe see about waitlisting for half the trip and the other half booking a different resort?

jmho, I think giving up on waitlist 6 months out is too soon, cancellations often happen especially when getting close to 31 days prior to check-in because members try to avoid having their points go into holding. Although Dec19-26 is very busy time, I wouldn't give up hope too soon.

Good luck, hope waitlist comes through for you :goodvibes

I agree that 6 months is too soon to give up. But I would make the ADRs now and then you can cancel them later if you want.

I'm sure you realize this (but in case some folks don't), Concierge is not meant to replace your meals. They do have some food out (breakfast being the most plentiful) but it's really meant to be more of an appitizer IMHO than chowing down for a meal.

I would give it up when other ideas start to be more attractive to me than the one the waitlist would give me. Since you own at AKV, there will be other opportunities and calling right at 11 months would be the best plan there.

I'd go with new plans that would be exciting and fun for you do have.

PS. No, I am not on a AKV concierge waitlist for the same time...I am staying there for a night in September:goodvibes

Thanks I am going to wait and see. The idea of having 40 points to use in March so DH and I cna go by ourselves is making dropping the waitlist look better and better.

Also I am aware that the CL refreshments will not replace meals but I wouldn't do the dining plan since I wouldn't need all the snacks and we could definatly do a breakfast in the lounge and a large late lunch or early dinner and snack if we are around the resort. If not then we grab a CS or a snack from the park.

So many options if I could talk DH into doing a split stay my life would be better but once he gets settled he doesn't want to move.
