At what time do premade FP+ become pointless or a hindrance?

For example, I unfortunately had to change FP+ (different park order) at the last minute. I really wanted a FP+ for Frozen Ever After but the only time is at 8:25 PM (park closes at 9). Should I get earlier FP+ in the day for other attractions or should I get the 8:25 PM FP and not be able to the 4th and 5th FP?

What is the effective cut off time for FP+ to be an efficient FP+ user (except for FOP which a person should select at time possible)?

I'm not an efficient FP user. I rarely make 4th and 5th FPs. Especially at Epcot! So I'd keep the fastpass and focus on the many non-FP attractions Epcot has to offer. This is particularly true if they're running any one of the festivals!

You are talking about EC. If it isn't Tier 1, it isn't really worth having a FP for it, which means unless you get some luck in getting later afternoon FPs for Soarin' or TT, you really don't need to worry about 4th and 5th FPs. SSE, LwtL, Nemo, MS, Figment and the Pixar shorts all tend to have reasonable waits.

FP for Frozen is always useful, but you do have another option.
I got on the boat after a 35 min. wait, by getting in line about 25 min. before closing time. As I left the ride, Illuminations was just finishing up. This was during the Food and Wine Festival. I would imagine that wait times just before park close would be shorter when no festival is ongoing.

I got FEA as a 5th FP on Friday. I think it just depends on if you want to press your luck or not. We had Soarin at 9:15, SE at 10:20 and Nemo at 11:25. Grabbed Figment as a 4th FP then I grabbed the FEA while loading onto Figment. It's definitely possible. Epcot was pretty busy, too.

keep trying to modify it to an earlier time. I have more luck with that the day of when people are actually cancelling and changing plans, but it can happen before too. If something earlier pops up grab it.

Pull up your FEA FP+ on MDE and keep refreshing it - chances are good that an earlier time will show up.

We're "hard core" FP+ users. I'd guess we do 60-70% of our rides, maybe more, via FP+. We use our first 3 really fast, then grab more and more. Sure, if we're in Epcot and we want to do short film, then no, we don't get a FP+. But anything that has any line, sure why not, get a FP+. FEA FP+ really aren't anywhere near as hard to get as they once were. We've gotten them same day, even minutes in advance, for a party of 5. So I'd say drop it and get things to suit your time and pick up FEA as a 4th, 5th, etc...

At disneyland, I was able to get more than 10 FP a day and never waited in line for more than 20 minutes. I know FP+ makes its more difficult to grab fastpass in succession because people already hold the FP+ allotment but shouldn't the theory still work...Prebook 3 in the morning, as soon as the third is over book the closest FP+, ride it, rinse and repeat?

I've never been to DL, but I can tell you for sure that the prebook 3 in the morning, grab another and rinse and repeat works phenomenally well at WDW. In the summer, we can easily do 7 or 8 FP+ in just 5 or 6 hours. Even the week between Xmas and New Years, while it was much harder, we did nearly everything via FP+. Simply no reason to wait in lines.

It is absolutely possible to get another Epcot Tier I as a 4th or 5th FP+. It just takes a lot of refreshing sometimes, but we do it all the time.

I would try modifying it rather than drop and try to get another. If you get through your other FPs and still haven’t been able to change it, then consider how important it is to you to do compared to the wait times of the things you would pick up as a 4th.

Hey, @Klayfish, when you’re trying to get harder to get FPs like FOP and FEA for your group of 5 do you modify the whole group or split it up and try to get overlapping times? I’ve not had luck doing trial FPs day of for either ride by trying to get overlapping times. They just come up so infrequently. I’m not sure which is the better strategy.

When is your trip? How many people in your party? If your trip is soon/now, I would keep it, but keep checking MDE for an earlier time. If you weren't able to modify to an earlier time before your actual Epcot day, I'd be shocked if you couldn't move it up day of. Just keep refreshing. Like maybe for a solid 10 minutes if that's what it takes, but I'm pretty sure you'd be able to move it up. Unless you have a party of 8 or 12 or something.
