Was it when you finally reached your ideal weight?
When did you / think you will feel confident enough to wear a bathing suit w/out a skirt/shorts/etc?
These darn thighs - Im not sure if I'll ever be able to wear a suit w/out the skirt!

I just gave it up this year...the bathing suit size bought...was a size 8 :)

1st - WOW glo - size 8!!

I just wear a regular bathing suit - no skirt - no shorts - I love the beach I love pools - I love summer - and I enjoy it - Plus not to many mirrors at the pools or beach so I don't have to see myself - because if I did I would never wear a bathing suit again!;)

I don't think I would wear a bathing suit with a skirt no matter how large I was, I would feel even bigger.

I have a regular 2-piece swimsuit but I do wear a cover up over it, a really cute sheer top with matching shorts. So I guess I would fall into the shorts category. I'll give them up when I lose about 40-50 more pounds.

I hate those skirt things they keep floating on top of the water. Very embarassing. I just lost a lot of wieght so I can fit in a regular size suit again( certainly not the size 8 of the other poster) size 14-16. i am embarassed by my flabby legs so I am looking for a bathing suit with shorts attached.

I just stopped wearing bathing suits.

I am going on a cruise in January and hope to be down to some semi-decent, non-skirted size by then. If not, I just will wear shorts and not go in the pool.

Not a great attitude, but it's worked for me so far.

I currently wear a size 18, and most likely qualify as a candidate who you might think would wear (or should be wearing) a suit with a skirt. I refuse to, however. I hate those skirted suits. I have four rules, for me, when it comes to swimsuits: 1) no bikini's (yikes, that WOULD be scary!), 2) it should fit perfectly, 3) a tan--fake or not fake--is a necessity, and 4) get the bikini wax!! For our 5/03 WDW I bought and wore a new suit...it is a tankini with a halter top and it totally covered up my tummy. It has pink, purple, and coral squares all over it, and it's darn cute. My DH thought I looked fab in it, I felt comfortable in it because it fit well. I got over the self-consiousness factor (I think it was all of the men I saw in Speedo's...what's up with that anyway?!...that pushed me into a new comfort zone) and padded all over Blizzard Beach without a coverup!

Linda,
This suit sounds ADORABLE!! Care to share where you got it?
You are right -- those speedo guys certainly make a girl feel better about herself! LOL! I love going swimming at WDW! :teeth: The biniki wax? I am guessing..... Ouch!!

I haven't given up my old swimsuit with a skirt. I'm not ready to wear even that with a coverup. I don't think I'll ever be able to show my arms again, I think I worry more about my arms that what that skirt may be camoflaging.

Hi All!

Like most of you, I have worn every size bathing suit from an 8 to an 18. I have always wore a jogger suit type bathing suit (shorts) because of an overly sensitive bikini area. Whether I shave or wax I'm left with that horrendous-looking, itchy, bumpy rash and so the shorts always too care of covering that. I just wanted to share a tip I learned last year. I bought a tankini with shorts bottom (a shortini I think) The tankini top covered all the way to the shorts so nothing was exposed (thank goodness) but because it was a two piece, it was extremely easy to go to the bathroom which is especially great in a public restroom setting. I highly recommend this suit and btw - no coverup necessary!

P.S. A quick speedo story. As few years back we were at Blizzard Beach and having lunch. At the next table was a family headed by a middle-aged, sorta, um, rotund kinda man wearing a speedo. When the man stood his stomach was large enough to entirely cover his speedo in the front. My DS, then 4 1/2 saw the man and asked us (a little too loudly) why the man was at Blizzard Beach naked! Embarrassed, we made a quick getaway. Boy, little kids will get you in trouble every time. (Although, honestly, he did look naked LOL) And, BTW, yes that man made me feel much better about myself!
