I have reached that pivotal point in my life today.

I have SO MUCH CRAP and I just dont need it anymore!!

There are toys and clothes that will never be worn/played with again. There are cds for computers that are no longer here. There are boxes of books no one cares about. Ther are kitchen gadgets that seemed so wonderful at the time and now are just stuff.
Its making me crazy!!

I feel like I belong in a Dr Demeto song " theyre coming to take me away away theyre coming to take me away ha ha hee hee ho ho theyre coming to take me away"

I get like that every couple of days. :teeth: Only problem is, if I continue to get rid of stuff we won't have any thing.

Try picking out some stuff to sell on ebay, and if you don't want to do that can you wait until warmer weather and have a yard sale?

EBAY!!!! Thats all I can say, EBAY!

Just Saturday, I was sick of 10 years of books. As much as I love books, there are some that I could never read again. I put 37 books together as a lot on Ebay, and guess what.. it has a bid.

I would have just thrown it out!

I m at a pont if its not tied down, it goes up on Ebay.

My husband hates that the kids rooms are so cramped with toys. I don't have the heart to throw any out, but last weekend while I was at work he did it. He got 6 big boxes of toys out of there. Just to make sure I wouldn't put them back in the house he dropped them off at Goodwill, and you know what? I wasn't mad when I saw their rooms because they look so much better now. They still have plenty of toys and there is room to play with them now.
Next will be me getting rid of those pre-baby clothes. I just haven't been able to finally do that yet.

Funny you should post this, binny.

We have been totally sorting and tossing and donating stuff this past week.

We are real pack rats around here.

We have already gotten rid of 6 garbage bags to the Salvation Army and about the same number of bags right to the road for the garbage truck.

Why do we hold onto all of this stuff:confused:

I went through this recently when I was home alone and decided to reorganize our dresser drawers. Because vendors come in and give away free teeshirts advertising their product at DH's work, we have tons of teeshirts with ads for such and such on them. He gets probably a couple dozen a year and after 8 years with the company, you can imagine how many teeshirts he'd collected. I went through and put a bunch of them in a bag to throw out, along with some other things I figured we no longer needed.

DH wanted to 'save' his precious teeshirts. I held my ground and didn't let him dig through the garbage to get them, thank goodness, or they'd still be here, clogging up our drawers.

Hmmm, maybe I better check out selling things on E Bay. I have a basement full of toys (from the time he was 3 until now - almost 10 yrs worth) and boy do I have books! I have every single book he has gotten since he was a baby! Then we move on to the clothes. I have container upon container of clothes. There's only the two of us living here and I probably have enough clothes (of course most of them don't fit) to dress 10 families!!

Maybe I could make a small fortune and put it away for a Disney trip!

Do you have to have pictures of all your items?

I usually feel like that about once a month:rolleyes: but actually act on it about twice a year. I usually go through everything around Nov., last year I took 4 big black trash bags to the thrift shop that helps battered women. I probably should have e-bay'd, but if it hangs around my house, the kids find it and start dragging it out.

OMG, have you been in my house? ;) I have a room FULL of stuff. We don't have a basement or attic so we have to use a room. Worked out ok till we had another child. She sleeps in our room. But my goal for the next few weeks is to throw away or EBAY (more money towards a bigger house) some stuff.

I have so much stuff and my DH won't throw anything out! When I clean out closets hegoes through the garbage bags to make sure I'm not throwing out "good" stuff. I would love to have that show "Clean Sweep" come to my house and tackle the attic and the basement....and the family room and the bedrooms and the dining room..

I have a little cross stitch that I made and framed and it is at the head of my basement stairs.

It says............ It's not junk......
it's a collection!!!

Hi,

It must be spring fever. Time to get rid of stuff around here too!

About an hour ago, I told my DH, I had had it with all the stuff around here and if it ain't bolted to the house, it's going!, LOL.

herc.

Nancy, interesting you should mention "Clean Sweep". DW and I did a similar concept ... oh, either last year or the year before. Home Depot had a sale on Rubbermaid totes and we bought a bunch. As she pulled stuff from the attic, I would either put it into a labeled tote or it went to the trash. It's amazing how much space we gained up there.

A friend of ours has an interesting take on it -- if there's something in the house that hasn't been used in the last 6 months, it goes on eBay. Slowly but surely we're adopting that same concept.

I'm at that point right now. My house is little and there is too much stuff in it. I just know that the minute I pitch something I'll need it the very next week though. It happens all the time.

But yeah, I'm going through stuff and getting rid of it.

Been saying it for the last 6 months! We have been Clean Sweeping our bedrooms.

I am having a garage sale in a couple of weeks. (Before Easter) Wooohoooo! Can't wait to get rid of the stuff!

I try and do that every once in a while. We usually donate to a local battered women's shelter if it's household item type stuff, clothes into the box at church which they turn into money for computers etc for the school. I don't like to throw stuff out if someone else can use it.

try donating the books to a local school or library. Also for stuffed animals i think hospitals would love them for the kids. Churches always need toys too for the nurserys.

I think I've contributed more than my fair share to the local dump lately. I've been on a cleaning spree.
