at what age do girls stop wanting to dress as the princesses in the parks?

Or do they ever stop? My daughter had a blast dressing as the princesses when she was 4 and 6.

Any experiences/thoughts?

I think it depends on the girl. My DD never wanted to dress up in princess dresses (unfortunately!). We just got back today and it seems that about age 6/7 seemed to be the upper age (though there were a few that looked closer to 8/9).

Well I'm 23 and had a blast dressing as Princess Aurora at MNSSHP this year :lmao:

But thinking back to when I was younger, I'd think girls would be too "cool" for it around 10 or 11. It would depend on the girl though.

If they let me still do it, I would. I'm 20 lol

I'm with the others- I think it depends on the girl. I know when I was little, you hardly ever saw little girls dressed up as princesses in the parks. Now, every direction you look you see at least 3!

Oh, this is good to hear. She'll be 9 on our next trip. She fully plans to dress up. She wants to dress up in her Cinderella dress when we go see Princess and the Frog this weekend. She's a mature kid, but not overly mature for her age, meaning that she isn't into tween stuff yet.

I just don't want her to feel out of place. And honestly, she's my only girl, so I want ONE last trip where she is called "princess" when she arrives at the park!

My almost 8 and almost 5 yo both dressed up on our trip this month and were very happy to do so!

We'll see what happens next year...

I'm 17, and I still wish I could dress up. princess: I never did as a kid. When I visited in August, though, one CM called me princess, and it made my day. :goodvibes

On my trip then, I saw a few girls dressed up that looked probably as old as 10 or 11.

We were there last weekend and I was surprised to see a 25-30 something mother and her 2 daughters dressed up and hair done-up in Bibbidi-Bobbidi-Boutique styles walking around MK. She didn't really look like any of the characters, so there was no chance anyone would mistake her for one, but it sure was strange seeing a grown woman dressed like that even if it was at WDW.

I think the last time my DD dressed up she was about 8. Not any older. Maybe even 7. Since she was growing up in so many different ways I didn't really miss it when the dress-up phase was over.

My DD would have probably still wanted to do it at 7, but she was 8 on our last 2 trips and she didn't want to. On our last trip a few weeks ago (a month shy of 9 years old), she said no way. She did entertain the idea of the Pirate's League, though, so go figure. :confused3 Her dance team is having a sleepover in a couple months, and she's already announced that she will need a new sleeping bag because she is NOT taking her princess one. But most of the girls are older, so that may be why. I was kinda thrown for a loop -- I didn't realize the princess thing would be a thing of the past already.

I see Full Grown Adult Women Dressed as Princesses .. Hey Its Disney Theres no age limit here As long as you Dont Look too Much Like the "real" one your Fine Go For it

I say typically 7 or 8... my DD just turned 6 (I need to fix my signature) and she is really getting out of the playing dress-up in princess costumes stage. We went to see "The Princess and the Frog" this weekend and she LOVED it, but has no desire to dress like her..... now a year ago a Princess Tiana dress would have been tops on her list for Santa. I think they still really enjoy the princess stuff (on the inside- haha) at WDW until about age 9 or 10-- but I really see kids her age growing away from wanting to dress like their favorite Princess. Our next trip she will be 7 and all she talks about is wanting to do the Pirate's League with her brother :)

I think about 9 years, but it would depend on the girl. I'd think a first time girl may be more inclined than a girl that has gone to Disney every year since a tot. My daughter dressed up from 9 years until 13 as she has autism and is developmentally delayed.

DD is 10 and still loves dressing up as a princess. We went to Disney on Ice less than a week ago and she tried on 4 of her princess dresses before deciding on Belle!

I can see the fairies taking over for her a bit. We love the magic of Disney - I know one day she'll decide not to dress up anymore but while it lasts I'm enjoying it!

We just got back and my niece is 11. She dressed up for dinner at 1900 Park Fare and for MVMCP (Belle's Christmas Dress). Other than that, she really wasn't interested in dressing up.

I'll be 34 in a couple weeks and I wish that I could dress up like princess! As it is I make princess themed clothes so that I can feel princessish when I am there.

My children will be 3 and 6 on our next trip and I can guarantee you that they will still want to dress up (and my 6 year old is a boy - just not as a princess!)

:lmao:did you miss the Tinkerbell proposal thread?

My 8 year old does not want to dress up like a Princess anymore, at the parks or at home. She's moved on to "fashion diva". :rotfl:
