At what age do feet stop growing?

My DD and I can wear the same shoes and she's only 12! Some of mine are slightly too big for her but some of them she can wear comfortably. She got a great pair of Tommy shoes last weekend and they're my size. She told me I can't wear them though. (She was mad when she realized I could wear her Heeley's. LOL)

So at age 12 with a size 8-8.5 foot, what will it be when they stop growing!?!?!?!?!

I would assume it's different with every kid, but I seem to recall mine stopped sometime around 13 or 14, which is also the same time I stopped growing height-wise as well. Every kid grows at different paces, though -- I had a lot of friends who were still getting growth spurts well into high school.

For girls its normally not long after they hit puberty, i.e. 13-15.

For boys they continue to grow for a lot longer, up to age 20 (but probably 15-17).

With girls, it is usually right around the same time they quit growing (height) which often directly coincides with their cycle (usually a year after they start, they are done growing) Not true for everyone, but most people I think.

I'd say it depends on the kid as well. I have been the same height since I was 11 years old. I've been wearing the same shoe size since about then as well (might have been 10, but I only gained just about 2" from 10-11 years old anyway). I have a pair of shoes that I need to toss that I have from 8th grade that still fit (then again my t-shirts from that era fit as well )

I think poohandwendy is probably right. I had my first period just about that time as well..

My feet stopped growing around the age of 12, and then grew a size with each pregnancy!

I feel so bad for my DD because she inherited my WIDE feet. She's doomed to a life of always buying expensive and often ugly shoes.

I don't know if my feet actually grew, but I wore a 6-1/2 from the time I was fourteen until I was pregnant with my first daughter at 32. I have worn a seven ever since. I thought it was just a pregnancy thing but it has been eight years.

Hopefully her feet will stop growing soon. As it is, I think they're not in proportion to the rest of her. On the bright side, we have the same taste in shoes. (If she ever lets me wear any of hers.)

My 13 year old's feet are still growing, but much more slowly than they were a year ago. I think (hope) he's almost finished. He wears a 13.

I've been 5'1 and a size 6.5 shoe since I was 12. On the bright side, my feet do not appear to have gone up a size since I've been pregnant.

I think it depends. I stopped growing completely when I was about 12...height, feet, everything. I was 5' 9" with a size 10 shoe at the time and my mom was worried I was going to be a giant, since I was 3 inches taller than her and 2 shoe sizes bigger.

I was 5 foot 7 with a size 8.5 shoe when I was 13, and now 25 years later it's still the same.

If it makes you feel any better my 12 year old wears a 9 1/2, I wear a 9. My feet were a 7 1/2 from about 10th grade until I had kids then they grew again.

My oldest is wondering the same thing about her sister...when are her feet going to stop growing??

My just over 11 year old is one size off of me (91/2 or 10) and is one size bigger than her sister.

There is some proof (not sure how steady it is) that most girls are done growing by 2 years after their first period. It has proven to be true with the 15 year old, who is 5 ft 2 & 3/4 inches (those 3/4 count!! ). Not sure how tall the younger is going to be as she is 5'3" and hasn't started yet...this could get scary!!

Different parts of the body grow at different rates for example some people continue to grow in height till the age of 24 while for most it stops by the age of 18 to 21. The growth rate differs with respect to gender, race, climate, diet, heredity and a host of other factors.

Growth in some way or the other continues in the human body until we are alive for example though bones stop growing by the age of 25 in most places cartilage continues to grow well until old age; hence we see people with large noses and ears in old age.

The feet continue to grow for a number of years after adolescence though in small measure. There are several other factors like people who walk a lot wearing well fitting shoes tend to have smaller feet than people who walk barefoot. Also feet size increases with increase in weight; hence the shoes that fit when you are 20 don't fit when you are 40.

I am not sure when but I really hope soon. My 11 yo DS is 5'3" and wears a size 11. We went shopping for school clothes yesterday and buying shoes was horrible. I hope his feet stop growing soon, or he will be in clown shoes!!

I was a 10 but after 5 babies im now an 11. DD13 is in a size 12 shes 5'7". Try finding shoe that look good in that size.

I'm 13 and my mom and I are the same size! I think that my feet aren't going to get any bigger though, I'm a size seven (depending on the shoe I can fit into as small as a six or as much as an eight).

That's just me though, I guess it all lays out on genetics and so on! But I'd say you can see a steady size soon.
