At what age did you let your kids go alone?

I *knew* that the 6 - 8 year olds needn't be cruising the ship unescourted - it's that Mama Bear thing in me. I can see it now...Son says, "Mom, I want to go get a snack and a drink." Mom replies, "Ok find my flip flops...ask if anyone else wants to go so we only have to make one trip."

From time to time I'd read different comments in unrelated threads that had left me with the impression that others were allowing their elementary-aged children more freedom than I was comfortable with.

Thanks for reassuring me that there are many more Mama Bears out there like me. We're more comfortable with the 13 year olds - they are seasoned travelers, responsible young ladies who've earned the freedom bit by bit and will use it wisely or will have it yanked...

IMHO, no, I would not let the 6-8 crowd go from point A to point B alone...no matter what the points are (ie drinks, pool, etc). Yes, 10-13s can go from one point to another, but I would not let smaller ones do that.

I know I will get flamed for this, but IMHO, DCL is an ideal vacation for child predators....not saying that anything would happen, but you don't want to even give it a chance!

And yes, I work w/kids, have kids and know the statistics...but I would still play it on the safe side!
thank you very much for fealing the same way as i do i get nuts seeing young kids walking around the ship alone no one else seems to think about preaditors yes if you realy want to give the 13 yrs olds freedom them buy some 2 way raidos that are good give the 13 yr old one and then you can still know what and where they are and up to . ive giving my 13year old dd it for the last 2 yrs and it saves me a lot of stress and i tell her she must always be with at least one outher girl . i found that the talk about from moterolla work realy great on the ship just bring extra batteries sandra
