checked in June 2nd and we are here thru the 8th. It has been 3 years since we last stayed here having spent more time at Disney and at HHI. We once felt the guest experience was far superior at this resort due largely in part to some outstanding cast members, I can say now 5 days into this trip it has declined since our stay here 3 years ago. Enough so that it will be at least 3 yrs before I wish to try it again. A few things: 1. It was after 5 p.m. before we got into our villa. 2. Horrible view of cooling units (whatever luck or lack thereof the draw). 3. CM golfcarts parked behind our vehicle not once but twice with no one in sight. Had to call the front desk both times to have it moved. 4. Dirty dishes in the cabinets, really it should ahve been spotless as long as it took them to clean the unit on our checkin day. 5. Tini ants in the bedroom, yes I called and they sprayed and their back today. 6. Pool games last 1 hr and are lame. Much better experience at OKW.

I could go on but I won't. Very let down this trip.

We go to VB for spring break since 2008 and I've waited until 6pm for a 2br to be cleaned. We ended up that year with a room that they had to clean the carpet in. I don't think Easter Saturday is a usual day to do that. Other years it's been around 5pm. We've gotten to the point, to show up at the resort at 4pm or later. Though we did get our Beach Cottage pre 4pm last year.

I watched Mousekeeping one yr take until 5pm to clean one of the Beach Cottages. Perhaps they were short a few people that day.

As for dirty dishes, I don't think mousekeeping is supposed to check every dish in the cupboard, but maybe they do. A lot of people don't rinse before loading the dishwasher and since it's not their own dishes probably don't hand wash one if they come out with food stuck on.

As for the pool games, my boys have found most of the poolside activites lame since 2006. They spend most of the time at VB on the beach. I like the poolside bingo at SSR, won a set of Little Mermaid pins. But I like bingo.

To be honest, we've seen a bit of a drop off in service in most of the DVC's since we joined. Kids actually asked to skip our next DVC T-giving trip in 2013 and go back to Wyndham's Old Town Alexandria(Washington DC). They are 11/15.

I spent nearly a week at VB in January, in an OVIR and my friend & I had excellent CM interaction, Bubbles, Origami, mini golf, more, it was a perfect stay.

I have never gotten a villa before 4PM there, so we tend to arrive later than that. We have a BC next weekend. Our DGC have always loved to do arts & crafts, and the CM's have always been very patient, as the kids do take their time. We've spent some time at VB nearly every summer with them, and I do an adult stay in the winter.

I'm sorry to read that your stay hasn't been a good one, and it's a shame you were so inconvenienced by the golf carts!

We checked in on June 2nd and our experience could not have been better. The last time I was at VB was 10 years ago and I swore I would never go back because of a very bad experience. This time everything (except the weather today) has been perfect. The staff has been great, the room very nice, mid week cleaning was excellent, pirate party in the dinner room with great food on Monday.

No complaints this time around.

Great! We thoroughly enjoyed the pirate dinner too!

Back home. We did have a few positive interactions with rec staff our last couple of days. Maryanne was great!!! Angel and Josh at the campfire were nice. But I still feel overall the quality is not what it once was. We did go to the seafood buffet on Thursday night, very pleasant server, the crab legs were awesome, the pot roast looked a bit scary so we didn't try it, the key lime parfait was awesome but the rest of the dessert selections were not worth the calories.

There were to many little things that just were not up to par. We may give it a try again in a few years but in no hurry to return.

How was the beach? The last pics I saw there was a huge drop off due to storms last year. Have they replenished the sand? I know the Town of Sebastian had renovations ongoing last year but something tells me it did not continue over to Disney. Can you comment on the beach or post a pic?

No replenishing that I could see. I was amazed at the amount of sand under the boardwalk.

Absolutely usable. Beautiful. Sand was great, water was beautiful the first 4 days, with small waves. The 7 yr old got to boogie board. The last 4 days the ocean was a little rougher with larger waves, a little scary for the younger group but my big boys got to enjoy boogie boarding on those days.
