I guess there's no way for me to point this out without coming across as a complete know-it-all jerk, but I'm willing to take the hit, even if it means ostracism from the DIS....

Anyway, here goes: Two of my biggest pet peeves:

-The adults-only restaurants are called Palo, singular. The name refers to the poles used to guide gondolas through the Venice canals. It is not owned by Rachel's former boyfriend on Friends, and as such is not called "Palo's".

-The Magic and Wonder are ships. A boat is something that can fit on a ship. A ship is something that is large enough to carry boats.

Now, I'm confused. I've always known it as Castaway "Cay" (at least that what it's referred to in all Disney documents). Where did KEY come from? Call me ignorant, but does Cay mean Key in some foreign language, or are you trying say the word "Cay" should be pronounced "Key"?

Origin of Cay / Key...

From the Spanish name "Cayo" for island. I don't speak Spanish, so I'm unsure of proper pronunciation, but the name for the island of Key West came from Spanish "Cayo Hueso," meaning "island of bones."

MFan, the name of the island IS Castaway Cay but CAY is pronounced KEY. Same is in Parrot Cay, CAY is pronounced KEY.

I don't know if it is because I am Canadian, but everyone that I know here says "St. Maarten" (Mar - ten), not "Martin" (like the name). When I first heard it said "Martin" by an American, I was shocked. It is so much less exotic when said the "english" way. I much prefer the "dutch" way.

Also, the "key" "cay" thing drives me nuts!

I agree about the way some people say "Carribean"... it should aways be said "Carr-i-be-an".

But, as a Canadian, I know that many people say things many different ways.... eh?

I hate it when people say Valentimes Day instead of Valentine's Day....drives me nuts!!!

There was even a local radio spot last month that pronounced it Valentimes......had to switch stations every time it came on.

Another one is that awful Dunkin Donuts commercial at Christmas time when everyone is trying to sing with their mouths full. Didn't their moms every tell them not to talk or "sing" with their mouths full??
