I'm not asking for advice here, just wondering out loud about this situation.

I'm standing in line at the coffee shop today, I'm third person in line and there is another woman behind me. They are usually moving pretty slow in there, and I am in a hurry to get to work.
Then another woman walks in and moves ahead of me and taps the woman in front of me on the shoulder. They begin to talk about coffee. I'm assuming they are meeting for coffee. I am mildly annoyed that she thinks she can just jump ahead of everyone because her friend was there, but not enough to let it ruin my day.
THEN she takes FOREVER to specially order her coffee. It has to be "just so" and she repeated it a couple of times. Again, I'm mildly annoyed and a little entertained at her chutzpah (sp?). No biggie.
Then she and her friend leave the shop and get in their separate cars and drive away! They weren't meeting for coffee after all! I don't get it?

When I meet my friends for coffee and we arrive at different times, we take our turn in line and don't jump ahead of other customers. Do you think this woman was rude?

You dont' need to flame me for being annoyed. I wasn't ticked, or angry, just kind of amused at her behavior.
Would you jump ahead of others waiting in line if your friend were at the front?

I might go speak to my friend but then I'd go to the back of the line for my turn.
Tacky, tacky,tacky...

I'd have been pretty annoyed myself so no flames here. If your friend is in line--even if you're meeting her there--you don't jump the line. Or I don't--I've seen other people do it, though!

Plus I hate it when people get all precious with their orders and everything has to be exactly so. Seriously, if I'd had to go out for a meal with Sally from "When Harry Met Sally," I'd have slapped her and told her to take what she got and shut up. :rotfl2:

I think I would have said when it was her turn.... "excuse me, I was actually next in line - BEFORE you arrived."

I can't stand line breakers. But I don't let it ruin my day. ;)

I would have been annoyed too! I never understand when people think their time is more important than anyone else's time :confused3

That's actually what I would have done in a former life. But it's a small town and we own our own business. I don't have the luxury of anonymity. Can't go around town ticking people off! :rolleyes1

You handled it right by not making a scene, but I also would have been annoyed.

I'm not very confrontational, so I probably wouldn't have said anything, either, but I definitely would have been annoyed!

(Heck, I get annoyed when I'm legitimately behind someone in line who takes forever to order their coffee ;) )

After she placed her order, I'd have placed mine and told the employee it was on the same ticket and she was buying ;)
