:banana: Thank you so much for posting this. I called and got unlimited talk same text and data plan and I am saving $5 a month. I'll take it!!! My cable bill went up 60 dollars :confused3. SO this Def helps offset!!

Thanks so much!!!:woohoo::woohoo::woohoo:

DH and I went to ATT this afternoon to look into this. We have a family phone with 3 phones, 2 iPhones and a flip phone. Currently my phone (one of the iPhones) is grandfathered in and did not want to lose my unlimited use. They pulled up our account info and for the past year I have not gone over 2 or 2.5 usage. My stepson (the other iPhone) is usually around 2 also. His phone has a hot spot (that I think we pay $5 for). My DH has the flip phone.

Currently our bill is around $173 (we get a discount because my DH works for the post office). We asked about the new discount they are offering. The manager said yes, things were discounted. He started talking about we would be lowering our bill, my DH could get a new smart phone , we would have a hot spot on my phone also and we would get the new ATT home security system all for about $10 less then we were paying now. This sounded great and we said we would like to think about it for a few days. Then the manager said if we did not use the security system it should lower our bill to around $120.00. He really seemed to gloss over this lower cost. They were just trying to sell this new security system. We said we would think about this but I think we are just going to go and change our plan and not get the security system.

Be careful if they try to talk you into their new security system and you don't want it. When he first started talking about it they said this would be a free extra - but it really isn't.

I did it online. Nothing was noted about a home security system. Do you know more about it? I definitely don't want that. We don't have a security system at all and where we live don't really need it.

My husband switch us to the new plan before I dropped my phone and cracked the screen. I want to upgrade to the 5c so if I do that it's going to cost more?

we have 3 people in our house who are grandfathered into the unlimited plan. DD uses anywhere from 3-6g every month, DH uses anywhere from 2-4 and I use 7-9g. I do travel a lot for work and use my phone for EVERYTHING. I took a look at the plans and while it would save us some money, it isn't worth it for me since our useage can vary so much on a given month.

I am very happy for everyone who was able to save money. every little but helps! One day I hope to be able to tout such amazing savings!

Finally talked to someone knowledgable at ATT. The first person gave me some wrong info.

Here is what I will be paying:

$75 for data (dh has a 25% discount)
$15 for the business inscription
$15 for each of 5 phones

Total: $165

DH's work pays his portion, so about $50 of the plan.

Total OOP: $110 plus tax.

Now to find some ATT phones. I think we are looking at getting a used iPhone 5 for me and a couple of Galaxy S3 phones for the teens.

Not every plan is for everyone, that is for sure.

There are plans people talk about their savings with and I think, "There is no way that plan would work for me!"

I talk about 3,000 min. per month. I text only about 500 (see thread on getting upset when people call you back when you text…….I am THAT person! :lmao:)

I haven't ever used much data (2gb was the most I have used) but plan to use more now that I can tether. I can't tether with my current PAYG plan and I want my iPad in a few places I don't get wifi.

OK, I went to the ATT store today to see what would happen with my plan if I went with this new thing. I would pay more. I am under contract still until September for 2 smart phones. We would have to pay the 100 for 10 G data, $40 per month for each smart phone, and $20 for the dumb phone we have for DS. Unless we bought new phones and then those prices from ATTNEXT would be added to the $15 phone cost. I knew it sounded too good to be true but I had to check it out. It is only $15 per month if you have no contract. If you have a contract it is $40 per month per phone, or whatever price it is for the monthly fee for the phone you choose. She tried to tell me the phone would be free after the $25 was taken off the monthly phone price, but it isn't free. It is $15 plus the cost of the phone which added up to $380 for an iphone 5C.

So I was thinking of going to Target and getting a discounted Iphone for my DS. Do we think everyone will stop selling subsidized phones now?

wow Ali - this is totally the opposite of my experience. I had 4 phones under contract, 3 are smart, 1 is not. each costs me 15 dollars plus 100 dollars for the 10gig. :confused3

I would recommed calling at&t instead of visiting the store if you do wish to see exactly how much the "mobile share" plan will cost you. I am under contract for all 5 of my lines (all upgraded in 2013), I was "automatically switched to the new plan," and each smartphone was only $15/mo. And while it would have saved me approx $20-30 in total (for all 5 lines combined) monthly from my current plan, it would have shot up SIGNIFICANTLY when we upgraded phones. So we decided to have at&t switch us back to our old grandfathered plan at this time, which they did with no problem.

I find it unlikely subsidized phones will go by the wayside anytime soon. Perhaps in 5+ years there may be no such thing anymore, but it will have to be an industrywide migration over time. That migration effort may have started, but it certainly is not anywhere near being even partly complete.

:mad::mad::mad::mad:

So, I got my new bill today, and unless there is a mistake, I am now paying MORE for this new plan where I was told that I would be paying less.

My bill is $40 more instead of $40 less. I am currently on hold for what seems like forever with AT&T. If this is how this new plan is supposed to work, they need to switch me back to my old plan, pronto, or we will, in fact, be going over to TMobile.

:sad2:

Wondering how this end up for you?

Also ? for everyone. I'm on the new plan and I have a Iphone 4S out of contract paying 15 a month and not planning on needing a new phone any time soon, my DD and husband have 5C so they wont need to upgrade anytime soon. My thought is to start putting some money aside each month in order to buy a new Iphone when the time comes. If I buy the phone directly from Apple, I should be able to just switch out the new model phone with my old phone and still keep my 15 a month rate? Is that correct?

OK, I went from a really old plan, 1100 anytime minutes, Unlimited mobile to any mobile, unlimited texting, 2 unlimited data iphones, 1 with 3gb and 1 with 2gb, so that 4 iphones. I was paying, with a 20% credit union discount $237. My new plan is unlimited incoming and outgoing calls, and texts, and 10gb data to share for $140. Your kidding right? That is crazy!!!

My cell phone is paid for through my employer but my husband has his cell phone through AT&T and he just told me last night that his bill went down by $30!

:cool1:

Changed to the 10gb plan and changed right back. First of all they didn't tell me about the upgrades which I specifically asked about. You either have to pay full price for the phone which is like $750, and pay it off monthly that would be for 20 or 26 months, if you want a new phone every year, you can give back the phone that your paying on and get a new one and keep paying for another 20 months and you also have to give them your phone. The other plan is upgrades like we have now every two years, but once you get a new phone and pay the $300, your bill goes up $25 for every upgrade so with 4 lines, in a year and a half, my bill will go up $100, which would make it more than I'm paying now! and I would lose the unlimited data on 2 phones. So its a no go for me!

We have 1 smartphone, 3 dumbphones, out of contract (AT&T), except for one dd's phone bought in the fall. New plan w/the 10 gb is only $30 more than what we pay now, and dd w/smartphone has 3gb on the plan.(that's the only data on plan, when you had to buy data for each phone). We've always avoided smartphones because of the cost of plan. I still prefer a dumbphone as long as it has a slider keyboard to text., but hubby and other dd would like smartphones.
Can we buy 3 smartphones from other sources (friend, ebay etc) to bring instead to new plan of having to buy the phones through at&t? Hubby's dumbphone is on last legs, but he has a friend that will sell him his old at&t galaxy 2 for $20.
We don't want to change if we have to pay a ton more for phones.

That sounds like the NEXT plan. I signed up for the 10gb plan and we're saving over $100/month. We had upgraded our phones in the Fall and didn't need new ones. I would not go with the NEXT plan because we don't upgrade yearly and the rate plan is not as good.

My dh signed us up for the NEXT plan. Not sure that I am thrilled with that. Walmart just dropped the price for their 5s and 5c. Does anyone know if you are on that plan, would you pay the $29 or $99 for the 5's? I guess I am trying to say that Walmart has them for that price so is that what you would pay, or it doesn't matter and you pay full freight regardless of the reduction in price?

On the Next plan you pay full price for the phones. You can either pay it up front or over 24 months.
