AT&T rip off

Is the discount shown in the papers you sign? If not then you should not sign the papers and just walk out.

Meanwhile if they overbill you then you leave the overbilled amount unpaid and write a dispute letter for each monthly bill that has an overage in it.

If the same overcharge appears in the next bill, then you include the same dispute in your next dispute letter.

You don't have an Iphone do you?
IIRC the discount does not include iPhones.
We have iphones and get the discount on our service. Like someone else we had the service before the job and they added the discount to our account. It was immediate and never an issue.

I have a 20% corporate discount and a nice young man in one of the stores set it up for me and it took effect with my next bill. That was three years ago. When I upgraded to the iPhone my discount was also granted on the data plan.

I've had a discount for years through my employer. I think it's 15%.

Of course, it started in the Cingular days. Maybe things are different now.

I too have a discount through my employer with AT&T.. been with them as far back as Cell One, and then Cingular.
Followed a link on the company's intranet site, sent them my company email address and was given the option to also include my home email, which allows me access from home.
I recently purchased an iphone, and while I had to pay the full price for it, the data plan is discounted at the same rate as my service plan.
I have been happy with AT&T customer service, and also coverage for my area in MA.
I hope you get your issue resolved...

I also get a 20% discount thru my employer. I think I got it through the ATT website. We were given a discount code, I went to the website, plugged it in and it showed up on my bill the next cycle. I'll double check and see if you can do it this way. If you cannot get anywhere with ATT, call the HR dept at your work and let them know. They can probably call on your behalf to see what the issue is. ATT does not want to lose the big companies business with all their employers by issuing a code that isn't valid. Also, you may want to check with any co-workers to see if they had an issue. If all else fails, call ATT, ask nicely to speak to a supervisor and calmly explain the issue. Be nice, (not saying that you aren't) but explain your frustration and ask them if they can help you. I had an HR job that involved payroll and benefits. If employees called me up yelling and screaming, I would do my job, but not go above and beyond. If someone called and was nice and said "I know it's not your fault", I would go above and beyond to see if we could bend a rule or two so that person would be happy. What's that saying? "You can catch more flies with honey than with vinegar"? It's so true. Good luck!

Ok, I went to ATTs website and now I remember how I did it. They have to verify through your work email that you actually work for the company offering the discount. When you respond to verify, they send you a code back and you can enter it on the website. Have you gotten any emails at work from them?

Just wanted to give a heads up about the dealings I have had with At&T. With my employer I am offered a 19% discount for AT&T. They say it takes a few months to appear on the bill. Well, I have had my phone for 15 months and it has never appeared. I just wanted to warn people about how they run things. Now maybe just the actual store I go to is run by morons but I have also called the 1-800 number over 30 times and gotten the same runaround. so my advice is to not take any stock in discounts they offer. They, (at least in my store) , only care about getting you in a contract and at that point the customer service stops.
I figured this is budget realted because we all look for discounts and this was a total scam. If it needs to be moved to another board please move it.

I hear yea! I'm in Canada and the company here is called Rogers(AT&T) and its the same thing here. Their customer service is absolute horror. We are both waiting for our contract to end so we can switch to someone else.

We have had nothing but trouble from AT&T also. We ordered 4 new phones and were promised they would not charge us a $18 fee to start using each phone, but we WERE charged that $72 and still have not received a credit on a bill even though we have called every month for 4 months. We had to pay $50 because we had ordered 2 of the Impression phone, but weren't that 'impressed' when we got them, so we did keep one, but followed their instructions and got the other returned. We have also called at least monthly to get a different phone sent to us to replace the one we returned, but are still waiting - 4 months later. I only stayed with AT&T because most of my extended family use them, but I am really wondering if it is worth it!

You don't have an Iphone do you?
IIRC the discount does not include iPhones.

I don't think this is correct info, i've been told by a few different ATT reps that the discount includes the unlimited data plan, though you can't actually get a discount on buying the iphone itself.

as for the OP, we also get a discount and have never had a problem with it. We added it to our existing att plan and when i log into my acct on their website it says right at the top that we're a member of whatever the employee plan is called.
:confused3

It seems as if many of us have had the whole AT&T problem. Especially with the bill being screwed up or even doubled!~ I finally had to give up and switch to TMobile. Haven't had a problem since :)

I have had AT & T for many years (Cellular One before that). I have never had problems with them. I got an I-phone in Feb and I really love it!!! I just had my first dropped call of Friday when I was driving by a power station. Don't know if that interfered with the signal or what -- but I still love it.

I also have a work discount (14%) and I got the information to go online to fill in the paperwork for the discount. It showed up (and I got a text about it) within 2 days. No problems!

My husband has Verizon through work and I think he has more dropped calls than I do. He has no problems with billing either.
