I have had the same Blackberry for 3 years with AT&T. Every time Im up for an upgrade I end up giving it to one of my kids because their phones fall apart. I'm FINALLY thinking about upgrading, and I'm totally overwhelmed with the different choices.

If you have AT&T, what phone do you have and why do you love it? I will say, I have an ipod touch and I hate the touch screen keyboard and can't imagine having to use it all day for text messaging. Blech! The windows based phones look nice? I just don't know!! Help! :)

I have an iPhone and love it, but if you already know you don't like the touch screen keyboard (it took me about 2 days to get used to it), I'd probably go for the new Blackberry they're advertising (don't remember what it's called).

I'm no help because I love my iphone. However, I don't love that AT&T has so flippin' many dropped calls, especially with the iphone. DH uses his iPhone for business and it gets embarassing sometimes that he has to have several different phone calls with one person to complete a conversation.

Have fun choosing!:goodvibes

AT&T here -- I still love my Blackberry Bold 9000 -- it's been almost 2 years for me. My fingers don't manipulate touch keyboards well, so I don't think the iPhone's an option. I'm looking at the Blackberry Torch as an upgrade (not until next month).

You might want to look at some of the Samsung slider phones. They have a touch screen for the big stuff, but a slide-out keyboard for typing.

Good luck. I know it's challenging.

I can help this one. Give minute to up with some phones for you.

I'm the opposite -- I'm underwhelmed. I need to get an AT&T phone for my work account, and there just are none that I like right now. I'm trying to stall a bit to see what they come up with as incentive now that they have lost the iPhone exclusive.

What do I want? I want a SIM-carded Smartphone with expandable memory, preferably running Android 2.2 at the minimum, and I want a QWERTY keyboard on it. Besides not getting calls dropped, the two most important things for me are an easily manipulated address book that will hold physical addresses and notes, and also a nice loud ringer.

The iPhone- my wife says it changed her life (lol). We especially like the face talk feature of the iPhone 4 with our grandkids.:)

AT&T is rolling out some new G4 Android phones this year. They are being tested in 2 markets now, and should be in most markets by mid year. Now, do I wait till then or upgrade from my HTC Tilt2 aka expensive piece of do nothing :sad2: now with the iphone 4.

Okay then I would wait for new android phones that comes for ATT. You will be able to upgrade to gingerbread that is already out on some phones. Then the other comes this summer is ice cream. No I did not make these names up either. LOL:lmao::lmao::rotfl::rotfl:

Yes I spend way too much time on the phone boards.

All fails do not found on at the ATT store do not like than have choice going unlocked gsm quadbrand phone. I would with Nokia flagship phone right now is N8 by Nokia. Here that coming to ATT store near soon.

I think if you're happy with BlackBerry, you can stick with it. They may not be the flashiest phones around, but they're definitely among the most durable and reliable.

If you are considering an iPhone, but don't want to shell out a lot, I believe at&t is selling 3rd generation iPhone refurbs for $49.

Finally, the vibe I'm getting on the new Windows Phone 7 phones isn't very good. They're way behind Apple, Android and BlackBerry and I just don't see them catching up. I'd stick with one of the three I just mentioned.

As for the BlackBerry Torch, the concept is good, but my understanding (I haven't tried one) is that the keyboard doesn't have the same quality that you're used to with other BlackBerry's (Bold, Curve, etc.). There will be a Torch 2 at some point this year, but maybe you don't want to wait...

I have the Motorola Backflip and I greatly dislike it. It turns off all the time just randomly and the battery power doesn't last very long, especially if you run any of your apps.

The phone I use for work is the HTC Flip2. It's great! (Has all ur requirements too .... or at least most of them!)

I upgraded to the Backflip in October. I was charging the battery every night when I first got it. I have the $15 data plan and nearly used all of the mb in 2 weeks because all of the pre-installed apps were running constantly. I pulled most of them off the home screens (there are 5) and turned off background data (under Google Syncronization under Settings) and set email to pick up manually. Now I have more battery life, like I was used to having, and less data usage. I also just connected our home internet connection, so even less data to use of my plan.

The touch screen is very sensitive. I've often dialed people when trying to lock the screen or turning the device to put it away. The device would already be dialing when the screen would turn off or switch modes and I wouldn't be able to disconnect before the call reached its destination. My DD got a Pantech Laser (texting phone) and it's not nearly so sensitive. It actually requires pressure to select the buttons. Oh, you can use the touch screen on the Backflip while wearing gloves, bare fingers necessary, learned that already this winter. I know some other touchpads are not designed this way. It took a few days to get used to the touch keypad, learning to get the letter you want by pressing in the right spot, but the Backflip has a flip out keypad that is fairly easy to use.

I had a BB Pearl for a number of years and couldn't decide if I wanted another BB. I figured it would have saved me the learning curve since it was the same brand and I already knew how they work. I wasn't sure on a Smartphone either We looked in the AT&T store at the mall before narrowing choices. The salesman was actually very nice, telling DD and I which phones just weren't that good, had a lot of issues and which were better. The Backflip happened to have a FREE offering online when I was back shopping online for the upgrade, so I grabbed it. I wouldn't say I regret it, but there are a lot of features I haven't been using because of the limited data. But now that I can connect at home, I will be using more apps - just downloaded some e-books last night.

Thank you for all of your replies and opinions, and the links to what is up and coming. I went to the store and looked, but still haven't taken a leap. I liked the LG Quantum (windows) for its slide-out keyboard, but I also liked the larger display of the touch screen models. The salesman had a Samsung Captivate (android) and I liked the speech-to-text feature. He let me play with the keyboard a little and it seemed easier than the ipod touch.

All that said I'm still unsure. I hate to spend $150 on a phone, plus case, car charger, data plan, etc etc and not be sure. Still contemplating...

I love my iphone 4. DH loves his Blackberry Bold. I've only had one LG, and didn't like it at all. But, that was quite a while back.
