DH, DS9 and I checked in yesterday. Quick and painless check in. We waited less than 3 minutes, received our room request (Congress Park), have a HUGE balcony in an alcove and a nice view of the courtyard and the pool. The room was absolutely spotless and was also ready at 2pm. We're here for our 13th anniversary and a pre-bday trip for Ds9. When we got back from MK today there were balloons and cards in the room, very unexpected. So far, an awesome trip. We did Mickey's Magical Milestone's tour this morning and plan on going horseback riding tomorrow. QSDP has really worked out well. We ate at Wolfgang Puck's place last night...mmm creme brulee.:thumbsup2 That meal alone covered the full day's cost of the QSDP. After all meals and snacks, we saved $83.00 using the plan just one day. Might be 20 pounds heavier when we check out, but for now we are having a blast!

This sounds like a great beginning! I hope you have a most wonderful vacation. I've never heard of Mickey's Magical Milestones tour. Can you give some information, please?

Bobbi:goodvibes

Sounds great...Looking forward to more.
Glad the QSDP is workn for ya, we are still a little undecided about using it for our June/July trip. Shawnpirate:

Enjoy your time at SSR and keep the information coming...I am there with you in spirit right now. :coffee:

We are going to be at SSR in May. My brother and his wife are staying with us. It is his anniversary. Did you announce when you booked that it was your anniversary? Or, did you tell them when you arrived at SSR?

Sounds perfect so far! :goodvibes You've got that really quick walk to DTD there, very cool.

Thanks for taking the time to post! I'm particularly interested in how the Quick Service Dining Plan works -- sounds like it can save a lot of money. If you think about it, would you mind sharing how your family uses it? We're considering it for a future trip but I can't quite get my head around if it would work for us.

Wow!! How great that you saved that much on the QSDP!! You rock!:goodvibes

Just walked in from horseback riding after a quick stop at DHS (too busy, decided not to stay - 170 minute wait time on Toy Story eek). Horseback riding was awesome! None of us had ever ridden a horse, so to do it at Disney (Ft. Wilderness) was great. The trail is beautiful and the horses were all so gentle. The cold wind wasn't so wonderful, but the riding was well worth the $46pp. We had the horses out on the trail just a little under an hour. It also gave us the opportunity to walk around the villas since we've never stayed there. It's definitely somewhere we'll come back to - It's beautiful! Lunch was very tasty at their quick service restaurant. QSDP is saving us a fortune. No clue of what we're doing tonight. It's so cold! We heard MK was at capacity, so it looks like we'll head to Quest tonight. The bus system has ran pretty slow yesterday and today, so it will be nice to just walk to where we want to go. It will also help with all of this extra eating. Tomorrow is already check out time. :sad2: Don't wanna go.... DS9 can't wait though. He knows check out day is "use up all of your snack credits time" We still have 16 snack credits left. If you are on the fence about the QSDP, try it. We broke even for a four day trip on the first meal of day two. I think we paid $70 a day for the three of us. Average meals are running about $50. Plus the snacks and the refillable mugs. The only negative would be that we will go home with piles of snacks, fudge, and candied apples tomorrow.
Off to get some hot chocolate and then sit out on the balcony and watch the loonies swimming. :rotfl:

Make sure to stop by Goofy's Candy Co. to use up some of those snack credits!!

All those "design your own desserts" are soooooo yummy! We mentioned that we were taking them home and the CM's were great about boxing them up with plenty of "padding"

Thanks for the wonderful report, glad you're having such a great time!

on the qsdp what do you get per person per day

Each person gets:

2 QS meals per day
2 Snacks per day

1 refillable mug at the beginning of your stay that can be used throughout your trip.

Cost: $29.99/day for Adults and $8.99/day for kids

Happy Anniversary and Happy Birthday!!! Sounds like you are having a wonderful time and a magical trip. So nice to hear you are enjoying your counter service dining plan! Enjoy the rest of your trip. Thanks for posting!

WOW! the toy story wait was crazy!! I know it's spring break..but man! I hope we get to ride it in June!! We are staying at SSR for the 1st time this trip!! Thanks for all the info!!

Thanks for your comments on the quick service meal plan. We've been on the fence, but your experience sounds good. Enjoy!

Thanks for the info re: the Quick Service plan.

Sounds like you all are leaving at a good time.

We've never tried horseback riding. Did you have to make a reservation?

I'd love to do the horseback riding in WDW sometime, sounds so fun.

Too funny about watching the loonies swimming in the cold, I'm with you!! :scared:

Sorry to hear today is check out day, have fun with those snack credits!

Well...I'm now at home. Last night was so cold. We ate at Wolfgang's again and then spent a few hours at Quest. Had a small issue with the bus to DTD. The driver "didn't see me" getting on and closed the door on my arm. We got a oops, sorry and a "It's a good thing there's an automatic sensor so it won't hurt you". I was just glad it was me and not a child. No bruises, but it is sore. We stopped at guest relations and all they could do was give us a card to write the higher ups. That's what happens when you overfill the bus. Next time I'll make sure not to wear my invisibility cloak.
We stopped at the Candy Cauldron this morning and used up 16 snack credits. $67.00 worth of fudge, candied apples, and chocolates. To answer your question, you do need to make reservations for horseback riding. I called about 2 weeks ago. Horseback riding was by far our favorite activity that we've done at Disney...period. I thought nothing would top the Segway tour we did 3 years ago, but this beat it. The guides were just so nice to us.
We were almost glad to be leaving this morning. The crowds make it almost impossible to relax. Well...now off to the bad part...washing clothes and unpacking.

Thanks to your recommendation of the QSDP, I am giving it serious consideration.
I think it will come in handy with 16yo DS!

And the horseback riding sounds like fun. I always wanted to do that.
