At OKW

I just had to share my excitement We checked in to OKW today! We are new DVC owners, so this is our first trip. I am in love with our 1 BR. I didn't expect it to be so big!

Animal Kingdom Lodge is our home resort, but because our DVC resale purchase didn't go through until November, I couldn't get a room there.

The kids are asleep and we had a decent meal at Olivia's. In my first ever sending food back, my salmon was not cooked through at all, they gave me my appetizer for free and when the salmon came back it was delicious....so no real complaints.

I can't wait to wake up tomorrow and get to the parks!! It is our first trip with kids...DD5 and DS2.5.

Thanks to all the people on the boards who recommended bringing a wireless router!

We own at VWL and are headed to OKW in a few days in a 1 bed after 2 nights in a studio. Looking forward to the stay!! Which area are you in?

Glad to hear you're off to a great start, and glad you're enjoying OKW. It's probably my favorite resort!

As you guys make future plans, you may want to try resort hopping. We made the decision to try out all of the DVC resorts just to see what they are like, and with the exception of BLT, we've tried them all. I'm so glad we did! I didn't just bond with my home resort, I bonded with all of them! I had put off staying at BCVs just because I make the reservations, and I didn't think I would like it. It's one of my personal favorites. Warms my heart just thinking about it. Anyway...just food for thought.

Hope you guys have an amazing time with your babies! One of the wonderful things about OKW is coming back to the peace and quiet after long days at the parks (and the HUGE rooms!). Nothing like it! Hope the weather is nice, and you have a great trip!

Glad you are enjoying our "home"! I wish I could get restaurants around here to understand that salmon should NOT be cooked all the way through! I hate it when it comes over cooked! Our other home is your home resort too!

We'll be home again in May!!! We love all DVC resorts but our favorite is OKW. The palm trees along the river are beautiful. The sultry tropical theme is enchanting. Have fun!!!

I'm sitting here in the office daydreaming of all thats going on at 'home' right now...the gentle warm breezes through the palm trees, the kiddies splashing in the pool, the lucky adults sitting in the Gurgling Suitcase enjoying a tropical beverage, the heavenly smells wafting out from Olivias and the surrey bikes crossing the bridge...

and lets not forget the relaxing ones out on their balconies savoring a mimosa or that extra cup of coffee after sleeping in a bit.

I miss home!!

Its weird for me, being a new DVC owner, that I am all about the resort and chilling back just enjoying every moment. My son and I spent YEARS running and going full out commando! And while we loved every moment of that, I am ready to 'settle down' and begin enjoying the next phase of my Disney life just as much! We have my DBF's 8 yo daughter to induct into the world of the mouse now and while that will be so much fun, we plan to go less commando with her.
