Well, We are here. Kids, myself and DW (JCDISNEYFAN). We checked in on Sunday AM around 9:00 and was suprised to find out that they had a room (1BR) ready for us and we were able to go ahead and unload everything before heading to the MK.

Saturday we stayed at Holiday Inn Maingate East. My youngest DD and I poceeded to MGM to ride TOT and R&RC. We were surprised to see that for one thing the park was dead. We walked right into the Movie ride and got on. We walked right up to TOT and got in. We did do Fast Pass for R&RC but was only for 1:00 hr later. MGM was completely dead, as a matter of fact they were closing all of the resturaunts in the park to walk ups. You could not get into any sit down establishment with out PS arrangements and it was only 5 PM. We were frustrated because we hadnot eaten and were not in the mood for the standard hamburger so we left instead of staying for Fantasmic.

The Holiday Inn was a unique experience. I think that we will pickone of the other Holiday Inns that are much closer to things next time. On top of that the hotel was in my opinion really cheezy. After staying with DVC I don't knowhow we ever stood for those small rooms.

Today we went to Animal Kingdom. The park was moderately crowded which was suprising based on the comments that we have seen on here. Both DD's and I went on Kahli River Rapids where my oldest DD, riding with a CM, proceeded to get soaked to the bone. Our raft was spinning and stopped with my DD and the CM going down backwards. As I thought the water swamped the boat and we preceededto get DRENCHED. The CM did give us a certificate for being the wetest on the ride. We had lunch at the Flame Tree BBQ. I recommend this if you likefall off the bones ribs. They were great and only mostly smoked not really any sauce on them.

After spending most of the day at AK we proceeded to DD for some shopping. We ate at Planet Hollywood and then continued our shopping.

We got rained out on Spectromagic last night and the fireworks since it was storming. I suspect they allgot cancelled tonight as well. We are going to MGM tomorrow and hopeto catch FANTASMIC.

I have been working with my Video Camera and have some decent videos that I will have to see if I can turn into Microsoft Media Player files.

Checkout our page at:
www.noblesvilleonline.com/disney and we will posting some of the photos that we have taken.

Well I will post more later.

Thanks for your report. Glad you're enjoying the stay.

Please let us know how you found things with your room at OKW, satisfaatory, etc.

Thanks for taking the time to post during vacation.

How are the fires and smoke at this time. I have frineds arriving on Saturday and they are very concerned as this is a once in a long time trip.

We just missed you!! We left Sunday morning. Had a great time, wishing you all the same!!!!!

You are all so lucky, I wish I was there at WDW now. I am still in my recovery mode and they, my DW and Dr.'s, will not let me leave the area for a while. It is so good to read posts from WDW, Keep it up, please.
We also tried HI maingate East and thought it was rather run down, about three years ago. Since then we have stayed our Sat. night arrival at HoJo's Maingate East using Ent. card and it is rather nice. Cost is only about $36. We stay there upon arrival on Sat. because the flights are lower price. We have done this for about 6 years now. We go that night to Krispy Kreme as a tradition, just up the road (192) next to Macroni Grill, go there it is great and very habit forming!
:bounce:

Thanks for the report. Sounds like the reports that Disney attendance is and will be down this summer as a result of the economy may have some truth. As we are going soon, could you fill us in on the big question that has many concerned--what is the condition and effect of fires and smoke from brushfires?

Sorry Doc I will correct that when I get back from Vacation.

The fires and the smoke have been fairly non-existent around here and the parks since we got here. Most of the storms have been north and south from here.

The room has been excellent. We are in a 1 BR in Building 14 in room 1437 and is fairly quiet. We have a loveley view through the trees of the guard shack. Idon't thing that I will ever be able to stay in a Studio again.

Today we went to MGM and the crowds were back but manageable. We came back to the room so that the kids could do some swimming and they got driven away from the pool when a lightning storm came rolling through. Things have cleared now and they have gone backand I will be joining them in a few minutes. We are going to attend Fantasmic tonight yet.

Tomorrow this Shaggy guy or group is performing and taping some special at MGM and my DD's want to go back over to catch that. We will start with Breakfast at olivias and then end with Dinner at 1900 PF for the vilians at the GF. Then to the Contemporary for fireworks from the Observation deck.

Thursday is the day for Epcot and Illuminations. And then we will go to the MK again on Friday and stay for E-ride night till whatever time it closes.

Well till tomorrow. I will write more later.

I am also in recovery mode here at home 2 weeks after open heart surgery. Your report really made me feel good - I can see, hear and almost smell everything!!! Keep it coming! :earsgirl: :sunny:

Dennis and Gail...my thoughts and prayers will be with both of you as you recover from your surgeries. And here's a little pixie dust to boot *','*','*','*','*','*

disrailfan...thanks for sacrificing some of your precious vacation time to write the reports. I just LOVE to live vicariously through other people's time at the World. August seems SO far away!!!!
