At Ohana Now

I am in the did NOT like it group - everything was dry and yucky, except dessert...THAT was fabulous!! I am also in the group that believes you need to try a place for yourself to see if YOU like it. Despite a lot of negative reviews, I tried San Angel Inn and Tony's on my last trip and enjoyed them both very much. San Angel Inn was one of my favorite meals and will definitely be on my list for my next trip!! Don't think I would do 'Ohana again....maybe for that bread pudding.....

I just think that everyone is just giving their personal opinions.

Oh I would definitely cancel an Ohana ressie if I had one, especially if it was for say 8:00am for May 2nd for 3 adults and one infant.

Anyone? Anyone? Shoot, well I guess I'll have to keep checking for availability but it was worth a shot. LOL

In all seriousness we've eaten both breakfast and dinner at Ohana many times over the years and sometimes the service isn't great but the food has always been great so I can look past that.

'Ohana is one of many Disney restaurants that we've been to multiple times. Every time we've gone things have varied. First time the food and service were both mediocre. Second time the food was good, but our server was severely rushed and double charged us a much larger parties check (having your card declined at Jiko the next night is not fun). The last time we went it was great, the food, the service, everything, could not have asked for a better meal.

After dinner we did speak to the manager. He listened and got our servers name. That was about it. We had already paid and weren't looking for a freebie or anything. He basically just thanked us and said he would check on it.

Hate to tell you this but in the restaurant business, this is code word for "I'm going to forget we ever had this conversation the second you turn around and walk out of here."

Sorry.

Just curious are you on the dining plan? Last trip we were not service was fine. This trip we plan on DDP (lots of character meals with DD) it should save us $200-$300 based on what we spent in May of 2009. Now I am curious if we should just pay OOP if it means bad service.

My husband and I are going for the first time in September. Of course I am 95% vegetarian (I eat one meat meal each week.) The veggie and vegan reviews have been pretty good, so I'm optimistic.

We have given up on Ohana. We had a bad meal with bad service but decided to give it another try and the next meal was even worse. We also had an ADR and waited for 40 minutes. Nothing about this place was worth waiting for.

welcome to the club of i had bad service/meal at ohana

so sorry you had to join :headache:

We are also members.:wave2:
We booked it based on the rave reviews we read here and it was the worst meal of our Dec trip...possibly one of the worst we had a WDW. Food was terrible (meats all tasted the same...smokey and dry... potstickers were soooo dry they were inedible, gluey noodles and sad, soggy salad).

I'm sorry you had a bad time. We enjoyed dinner very much and had good service, but when we were there for breakfast, our food was also cold.

Everybody seems to have different experiences at the restaurants. I know a lot of people like 1900 Park Fare and Crystal Palace, but not Chef Mickey. I, on the other hand, feel the exact opposite. :confused3

Just curious are you on the dining plan?

I've done 'Ohana twice on the dining plan and service was fine. We've been to Mama Melrose and Liberty Tree Tavern on and off the DDP, and didn't notice a difference in how we were treated.

The only place we truly had bad service was Crystal Palace, and I think that had more to do with the fact that there was 11 of us, so the server was going to get a gratuity no matter what.

This. Except it was an AP Tables in Wonderland program which requires tip. I swear that the service went down hill in the last few years and I've been thinking it was because of the TIW/DDE deal. They knew they were getting a tip so why bother.

Tipping discussion isn't permitted on the main boards. All tipping discussion should be on the Tipping Information Sticky thread. Will have to close the thread if it turns into a tipping discussion.

That said, you don't need to tell a server you have TIW until you pay the check, so that would take care of that.

We were just there last weekend--after our Disney cruise. Last year, we LOVED O'hana. Last week....it was just ok. The service was bad--and the food was mediocre. The salad and bread were good. But the meat was just ok. The dessert was great. We were so used to the wonderful food and service on the cruise that this was such a letdown.

Add me to the list of not so great time at Ohana. Dh and I tried Ohana for the first time last May. The food was pretty good, but we were placed at a table next to the aisle where they have all the kids and parents dance/play games. It was at the time of the H1N1 breakout, so we were a little freaked about the kids coughing and touching our table. We decided to try it again in Dec. of last year. We knew to request a table preferably by the window, but they placed us at the same exact table we were at the last visit, go figure the odds! The food this time left quite a bit to be desired. The steak was still mooing and half of the peel and eat shrimp were still full of yuckies. Needless to say, we are done with Ohana.

I always had good food but service was terrible. Now when I go all I want and expect is good food. They serve so much I never need the server anyway.

We had lousy service from our server last sept. She was training another girl who was basically doing everything, and she told our server that she better start helping her right in front of us. I felt a little uncomfortable because there was alot of tension between them. The food was still great, and we will be back this year.

I really hope that we don't have to close this one. I just went through and removed the posts that had tipping as part of the discussion and wanted to quote this as a last reminder for everyone. :goodvibes

We've been to Ohana three times and had less than stellar service two out of the three times. We didn't go last trip so we're giving it another try this time. If the service is bad again it may be a long time before we make it back there.
