At least it will grow back...

I went to get a haircut yesterday because my mid-back length hair was really getting to be a pain in the whoohaa. I have very thick hair and when it gets to be that long it becomes very hot and heavy.

So I got a haircut and I asked the stylist to take off 9 inches, which, sadly was too much. I didn't realize that cutting off nine inches would leave me with a chin length bob that kind of looks silly on me.

It's not the stylist's fault. I asked her to do that. :( Oh well. At least it grows back.

I think it's a shock to you ... going from mid-back to chin length in one fell swoop has to be pretty dramatic! I'm sure you look great -- you just need some time to get used to it! Post a photo for us!

I'm sure it was a shock but just think how healthy it is for your hair.

I have thick heavy wavy hair and hate it when it grows past the top of my shoulders because it's just so heavy. When it's chin length it's so easy to style- just put some curl enhancer in it and let it air dry.

I would post a picture, except DH has my camera because he needs it at work today for something.

It kinda looks like this:

Except I am not nearly as attractive as the actress who portrayed Lal. I do have almost the same color hair though. Just imagine that exact same hairdo on a pumpkin (cept my face is peachy-olive and not orange) and a pair of Alton Brown-style glasses (because my frames are almost exactly like his) and that's what I look like.

One more inch and you could have donated to Locks of Love!

I bet it's cute...post a picture when you can.

I never give a number of inches-always 'roughly an inch below the chin'.

The last haircut was about 8 inches-I couldn't wait anymore to do Locks of Love-it was driving me crazy.

That's what the stylist said too.

I had a feeling I was doing a bad, bad thing when every stylist in the place walked by the station I was at and went "OMG! She cut off so much!" :faint:

There is a new donation place that takes 8" of hair and makles wigs for women. DId you keep the hair, TOV? If so, you could send it to that place for someone who needs lit! You know, lemons...lemonade. :)

Sadly I did not. It all got swept away as I was leaving. Oh well.

Maybe it'll look cuter to me in a day or two. The only positive thing I can think of right now is that I won't have any tangled messes to deal with when I brush it and it's off my neck.

Hang in there, it will wear on you and you will eventually like it. I cry almost everytime when I cut my hair that much, but it feels so much better in the summertime and my head is not as heavy. It will grow back!!!

i used to wear my hair long..and then i gradually got it shorter and shorter...it was a shock at first but then i got used to it...now i cant stand it if it gets as long as my chin.....sooo give it a week....that is alot to cut off at once and will take some getting used too....i bet it looks great !! :thumbsup2

At least I didn't cut it short enough to make my head look like a Q-tip. I've done that a couple of times and I always question WHY I did it in the first place.

Let me get this straight. The hair on your mid-back was causing pain in your whoohaa?

Nelson-- :rotfl2: :lmao: :rotfl:

PK1---I have too much hair to do layers. My hair is EXTREMELY thick (gee thanks Mother nature! ) and if I do it in layers, it looks wierd. I've tried and it just..does wierd things. I absolutely refuse to repeat the "Rachel" 'do incident of 93. Not even going there. :sad2:

And if I wanted to do waves, I'd have to have a perm and my hair doesn't DO perms. The last time I tried (7th grade--right after Top Gun came out and everybody wanted 'body waves' like Kelly McGintis) I ended up looking like a poodle for six months until it finally grew out enough for me to cut it off. I can post a pic later if you don't believe me. :lmao:

Thank you for the suggestions anyway.

You are cracking me up! :rotfl: Yes! Pics! We demand photos!! :rotfl2:

I wish I had thick hair..I'm envious.

I kept saying this when DD,16, came home from a party in January with a mohawk. It grew back very quickly.
