Very well written and touching story. A must read. It is on the front page here:

bonkerbros.com

Do you mind telling us what we will find at the link?

Just copy and paste the .com. Its the first story on the page.

I actually googled the site first. This poster is new and you never know what someone is going to post. It could have been something bad (virus, porn, propaganda, etc).

But I did go and read it. It's kind of touching, yes. The author kind of turned me off, though. Seemed a bit immature.

Here is the story for those who may want to read it without leaving the DIS, It was a nice story ->

After today I have realized there are still good people in this world. It all started by waiting on a DirecTV technician to come to mine and my girlfriend’s new apartment to install a new system…

After calling and scheduling an appointment a few days ago, I was told a technician would be out today between noon and 4:00 PM to install whatever it was that we had ordered (my girlfriend made the order). So I received a call from the technician who is supposed to do the installation around 3:50 telling me he was having problems finding the apartment. I peeped out our balcony window and saw a guy in a blue shirt with a confused look on his face, so I thought to myself, “This must be the idiot cable guy”. I was already in a pretty ****ty mood because we had been waiting the majority of the 4 hour window they had to send someone out before I called and complained, and now the guy cannot even find my apartment on his own, but at least he is finally here and I will soon be able to watch The First 48 again.

I invite the technician into our apartment after meeting him at the bottom of the stairs and guiding him to the right door. We introduce ourselves and shake hands and he tells me his name is Alex. He had a very strong accent, I just couldn’t put a finger on exactly what kind of accent it was, I will say it was a Spanish accent for the sake of the story. Alex took a brief look at our balcony railing and automatically said there’s no way to install the system, the satellite must be facing the opposite way of our balcony, and since we are on the 2nd story, the 3rd story is in the line of sight. So as you can see I was in an even worse mood, as Alex got on the phone with his company, he told me how sorry he was over and over again. I finally just give in and realize I’m having a bad day and I don’t need to take it out on anyone else, so I told Alex not to worry about it and that I’m sorry he drove out for nothing, I then found out he came all the way from Palm Coast to do the installation, which is about 45 minutes away from me.

While on hold with his own company, Alex put his phone on speaker (I didn’t know employees had to listen to the dumb music while waiting to speak to a representative). He noticed some pictures of my daughter on my entertainment system and a huge smile appears on his face. He told me she is beautiful, asked how old she is, all the typical small talk you have with someone you know recently had a baby. But then he said something a little different, with his Spanish accent he said, “Your whole world is about to change, when you’re at work all day and all you can think about is how much you miss your child, when you get home from work and they run up to you saying “Daddy Daddy Daddy!”, when you just melt and realize it’s all worth it, then you will know what I’m talking about.”

I began to realize this guy isn’t so bad after all. He seemed like a decent family man, and I truly did take back my remarks I made about him earlier, they were just out of frustration. He then goes on to tell me how he just watches his 3 year old play the Wii he bought him for his birthday for hours at a time. I could tell by his facial expressions when he thinks about his children he really does completely forget about all his problems, I even began to think he forgot he was even on hold for a second until a representative came on and he told her he needed a refund for his customer because the unit wasn’t able to be installed due to the direction the building was facing.

After all of the mess, Alex was still smiling and telling me how precious children are. He tells me I need to cherish every minute with them, because when you have to go without them, it is too late. As I shook his hand once more and said goodbye, I told him I would take his advice, and once again I told him how sorry I was that he had to drive all this way for nothing. With the same smile on his face he simple replied, “It’s alright, at least I got to meet you”, as he closed the door.

I honestly thought about what he had said after he closed the door for some time, and after getting goose bumps once or twice, I realized what a great man Alex was. Just remember there are still good people out there, but you will find them in the strangest of places.
