At Least 3 Things ~2/27/08~

Hump day!! :cool1:

We had a power outage this morning...sorry to be so late!!

What 3 things (or more) are you hoping to accomplish? Return later and post you're done...

I need to :

1) Teach card making class done...we had fun!!

2) Sit and stitch done...drama drama drama...it's like a soap opera...honestly, you can't write better than real life plays out!

3) pick up kids done

4) Chicken for dinner cooking

ya know, life hands you some crazy stuff at times...and things change fast, just like that commercial says...

Mike's is closing it's classroom, and we all have to lump it...:guilty: But some peoples take things so crazy, and we had some major screaming dramaz at Mike's today...wow, you really have to wonder what peoples major childhood traumas are when they react in some crazy ways... It was just sad. And management wants me to sign a paper saying I don't want a different job in the store...and I'm half tempted to not play nice and tell them I want a cashiers job :lmao: So, if you get the chance, and feel like being a nudge, call Mike's 800# and tell them how unhappy you are that they are closing the classroom, and will be boycotting Mike's... Really chaps my hiney the way they handled things! :headache:

Wow! Why are they closing them?? I know whenever we go into our Mike's the place is packed..especially for the kids activities...

I wouldn't play nice either.... I'd tell them PT on MY schedule! LOL

Well, Mike's was bought by some corporate shmoes last year, and they see bottom line, and not anything else. The only classes they are keeping is Wilton, and everyone else is finished as of April. I had a nice 5 year run there, and I made some friends forever, but the way they are doing things is just wrong.

I'm just not happy with the management at my Mike's and the assistant manager kind of lost it on me today, and I REALLY didn't appreciate it. All I was doing was making a copy...but she wasn't the postal one, it was another employee who was totally being self centered and ruined one of the few classes left. People just need therapy sometimes...

It just makes the evil me want to make things just a little more difficult for management, because they aren't handling things right. I'm in the mind to throw the wrench in the gears before I make my swan song. Have you ever heard of an assistant manager telling you that you had to SIGN the paper now?...ummm...nope....and I'm bigger and older than you, and you just don't scare me.... yeah, and I took that paper home and did nothing...bad bad me :lmao:

Heck, when I went back in and she asked me what paper.. I'd tell her I didn't know what she was talking about..than if she forced the issue, I'd tell her I lined the bird cage with it... AS for forced signing.. OH NO! Not gonna happen.. never know what is in that fine print... (We got a homestead credit rebate check in our real estate taxes, I called to verify it was legit... I could just see me signing it and find out it was some loan scam where I had to pay out the yang for money I didn't need)...

Sorry both of the employees were such poos!

sign what paper? I'm so confused......

what are we talking about????

What a shame about Mike's, I really liked working there, many moons ago. But I can't stand their store anymore. I go in on occasion since it's next door to Borders but I like ACMoore waaayyyy better.

Didn't the delivery man show up? :confused3 I paid extra to have it expedited. When I see the bill collector...

I think the delivery man ate my soup......:sad1:

Mike's wants all the instructors to sign a paper saying that your job is no longer supported by Mike's. You can say that you want to work in the store as a cashier or stock, and IF they have a position available, you can fill it...or they will "try" to find you one in a store close by. Yeah, right, but you have to be available when they say, and there is no working around your hours. It's so they don't have to pay unemployment...I wanted to know about how long I keep my discount, and how long about being rehired when they realize that they should have kept the classroom. The assistant manager was not playing nice, and hasn't been for a while, and when she gave me some attitude, well, I just felt a little peevish yesterday...ya know?

I would be peeved too. I wouldn't sign anything. I can't believe they are doing away with the classes, granted our Mike's class is always empty but it has a lot to do with the managers. My managers rocked, but most are snotty at best.
I wonder if they are going to do away with the summer camp too.

what a shame all the way around.

I hope yo can find a place to do classes, maybe with a competitor?

I don't think there is going to be a summer camp. Bday parties are canceled after March, and will come back in a preboxed format sometime later in the year. It's my impression that kid's club is over as of March too, and may return in a different format later. EVERYTHING in the classroom is being trashed...all jewelry supplies, art supplies, scrapbook paper goes in the trash. I'm planning a dumpster raid :lmao:

I'm OK with losing my classes at Mike's...I really am. I didn't make that much from teaching there recently. When Shabby Chic was in, I was booming! But lately I have a few steady students. I sure will miss that discount though, as I used it to buy supplies for my other classes, and swap stuff, and SS stuff, and..... :guilty:

I did meet with the manager today, and he was very nice and very professional. And there are no hours available, and I don't want to travel, so I signed the paper after I made sure that it was in my best interest. And I did make sure that he knew that there was an issue with the assistant manager yesterday, and I didn't start it. So, I didn't go into details with him about anything, just wanted him to know that I didn't give her any reason to act the way she did towards me. Gotta go out on a happy note ;)
