At last - able to use my miles on Northwest

I've had these miles sitting in my WorldPerks account for I don't know how long, but I couldn't use them because NW is notorious for having such limited numbers of award seats available.

Finally, this morning, I booked a "free" flight with my 25,000 miles - but not to WDW. (I figure Orlando's never going to be available without using extra miles.) We're going to the Canadian Rockies for our tenth anniversary, and riding the Rocky Mountaineer railway.

(Extra bonus - we're flying on Alaska, so if NW continues to have financial woes, it shouldn't affect us.)

I'm curious if any of you have managed to get a NW World Perks ticket to Orlando without using extra miles? I think I might have found one once that required multiple stops each way - just not worth the trouble, and the chance of luggage disappearing en route.

I got non stop out of flint michigan for orlando 12/03-12/12/05 only used 25,000pts. I think I got the tickets in August. Susan

I've never been able to get to Orlando on Worldperks miles. You can get there, but it required multiple stops along the way going and back. Wasting two days of vacation just traveling is not worth it to me. My vacations are precious and each day counts!

Plenty of availability for standard awards this past September from DTW, though some legs were on Delta metal through ATL.

I spent almost a year trying to get to orlando on 25000. Just when I posted on these boards that I couldn't get flights, several flights opened up. We are going in early December and I think I got my tickets in August. Initially we could fly down together but had to fly back on separate flights. A few days later I was able to get both of us on the same flight back. NWA employees were very helpful with this. We have direct flights at great times for us for 25000 so keep trying!

I got 3 FF flights non-stop both ways MSP - MCO for August 2005 all at 25000 points. Had to book in January to get them. The flights were decent times too - always before we had to do the 7:00 AM or 7:00 PM flights which are just bad times to fly. It was like winning the lottery... I'm guessing with the bankrupcy it will be even more difficult to use the miles...

I would guess it is tough to find trips to MCO for 25000.

I am currently watching trips to CRP (Corpus Christi) for Feb-July. I have seen many flights for 25000, but it seems to change quite often.... hopefully I can get a flight for 25000 once I nail down my dates..... though no flights are on NWA. They are either Delta via Atlanta or Continental via Houston.. though those tix all are 37500 or more... so looks like I will go thru Atlanta...

It seems like 37,000 is the magic number on NWA. I was able to find flights for our December trip out of DTW to MCO for that amount of FF miles without a problem.

Nnnnnope, we have NEVER been able to use our miles for free tickets BUT the last few years have been able to take advantage of the discounted air fares by using SOME of our miles. It's their Cash and Miles offer. We're waiting, hoping and praying they'll come out with some for our January trip.
