At Jambo House Now-Saw a Cockroach and About to Cry

I hope the OP realizes that people are just humoring her and that she is living in a fantasy world if she thinks there is a such thing as a "bug-free" room - especially anywhere in the south. Not to freak her out, but I would be willing to bet that there are several bugs and spiders hiding in the crevaces of her new room too, maybe including cockroaches. The only thing unusual about the other room is that she happened to see the bug, they usually stay well hidden and move quick. All the room change did was to let her return to a state of ignorance is bliss. Bugs will always find ways indoors, and 99% of the time it has NOTHING to do with cleanliness or the upkeep of the room, even in the case of cockroaches.

If "ignorant bliss" means not opening my kitchen cabinet to find a cockroach scattering away from the light of day, then that is fine by me.
Guess what? I returned home today to find a spider the size of a quarter on my hall wall. I didn't freak out because I know spiders will kill other bugs and while ugly, the spider didn't try to out run me. It hung quietly while DH came an smooshed it. I don't mind a spider, a fly an earwig or a mosquito in my room; those can be dealt with but I WILL NOT DEAL WITH A DIRTY, FILTHY GARBAGE DWELLING SCAVENGER COCKROACH IN MY LIVING SPACE! Especially with the THOUSANDS of dollars invested in the upkeep of my real estate interest.
To all the people who think a cockroach in their villa is no big deal; perhaps the next time I find one at a DVC resort you would like me to capture it and send it to you to enjoy?

My father, who is almost 85 and in reasonably good health, said he used to rub down cows and horses with DDT and then just rub it over his chest and shoulders. My first cousin said he would do the same thing. A little bit apparently stays in your system, because my cousin says he's never had a problem with mosquito bites.

The liberals had to ruin everything, and now we're all covered with mosquito bites and the sobs of distraught women can be heard outside of hotel rooms across America.

On the positive side, we still have bald eagles.

Right but on the bright side, that cockroach moved you from a tiny value room with a view of the parking lot, into the brand spanking new Kidnai Village room with a lovely view and an extra bathroom, for your Birthday!

So all's well that ends well.

I know you don't want to find bugs where they don't belong, but just remember that 95% of all animals are bugs and that they play a vital part in the environment.

Personally I didn't use to like bugs but after learning more about them I just can let them be. If it's only one or two no problem. If it's a plague that's a different story. Same goes for the love bugs; Yes, they're irritating, but they don't do any harm so just swat them away and that's it.
