At home wedding March 2012 & Disneymoon Nov 2012

Thought I should also mention I have chosen my wedding ring. It will be a plain platinum band and will be engraved on the inside with "Ohana" and our wedding date. This fits well with my e ring which is a single stone emerald cut diamond ring on a platinum band.

It's funny how you look at wedding rings but until you try them with your e ring you find your selection is limited.

My DF will also have the same engraving on his ring but hasn't decided on the ring as yet.

Thank you :flower3: I prefer headbands to tiaras. Did you keep the same dress after your DF seen it? My DF has had a few accidental looks but im not too worried, i'm not a superstitious person. As soon as he catches a glimpse he looks away quickly lol picutes are soo different what we will look like on the day.

Nah, I kept it. The way I'm looking at it, is that he hasn't seen it on me yet! And you knowwwww I'll look way better than the model anyways :rotfl2:

Your food looks delicious!!! Great choices!!!

Congratulations! Food and shoes: two of my favorite things and yours are awesome!

So we have decided on our theme which will be Alice in Wonderland with some hidden mickeys - very excited - purple is our main colour for example the guys cravat tie, waistcoat, bridesmaid dress, and we are getting the chairs covered with white fabric and purple satin bows.

We have have now booked the person who will be making our cake. The cakes they have in their shop are beautiful we have talked about the ideas that we have. I love the Mad Hatter style topsy turvy bright cakes. Hopefully will be three tiers with different flavours for each tier. We will meet with the cake designer again nearer to our wedding date to finalise our cake design.

Do you think we need to have purple in the cake also? I'm not sure if I like purple in the cake.

Below is an example of the style of cake I like:

I felt the same way when looking for a wedding ring! There were so many styles I looked at online and liked, but once I looked at them on next to my e-ring a lot of them just didn't work.

Also, that cake is so fun! I don't think you need any purple there if you don't want it. What shade of purple are you using?

Hi sorry took me so long to reply been v busy with work n stuff. The shade of purple is royal purple the same as the bridesmaid dress. If you type royal purple into google images you can see what the colour looks like.

I showed my dad and his partner the cake picture and the said "you know it is a wedding not a birthday party" Should I care what people think? I think if we don't go with what we want then we wil regret it.

Hello there! Just found your planning journal and wanted to say hello to a fellow Scot! Enjoying all your plans!
This is your big day and people will have plenty of opinions of how your wedding should be, but at the end of the day it's what you want that matters! I love that cake! :)

To be honest, I had some of the same concerns in the beginning. But what I've discovered is that there will always be someone who doesn't like something that you've planned. If you opted for a classic cake, another relative might complain that it was too boring. I've run into this problem so many times... when I was considering long dresses for the bridesmaids, someone remarked that it would be too hot in the summer. When I switched to short dresses, another family member told me that it was too informal. So in the end just stick with what you want! You can't please everybody, but at least that way you'll be happy.

I love that cake!!
And I say, go for what you want!! It's your wedding, about you guys, so just make sure you two are happy with it! In the end, that's what matters :goodvibes

Hiya nice to see a fellow Scot that's as into disney as we are :thumbsup2
Yeah we are definately going to do what we love and whats best for us.
It's like as you will know people are expecting the guys to be wearing Kilts and they're not, bagpipes (can't stand them! lol) don't mind them at new year etc just coz we are Scottish doesn't mean we need to do all those things. I'm glad you are enjoying reading about our plans.

I think I'm going to stop showing people what we are planning to do (except on Disboards of course!) and then there will be no opinons to stop us. It hard I do take peoples opinions to heart but then I will regret not going with what makes me happy. Happiness comes first :goodvibes

I found the figurine that I was looking for on Amazon.com for some reason could not get it though Amazon.co.uk.
My mum very kindly offered to buy it for me, so I have just placed the order :yay:
It's the Precious Moments, Magically Ever After figurine, we will hopefully use it as a cake topper and then will have pride of place in our home. Got a long wait till it arrives as it's coming from USA. This has made my day :cheer2:

It been a while since I last posted so I thought I should give an update. Planning a wedding is a lot more stressful than I thought it would be.

I have been loosing weight the past three years (trying to be healthy) and when I was measured for my dress in December they recommended i should order a size bigger than what I was as the shop said the dresses are small made and they can take it in up to 2 dress sizes. I mentioned I was planning on loosing more weight and I wasn't sure I wanted to order a bigger size. So now I have lost more weight and I went back to the shop as I was worried the dress would be too big. They remeasured me and they said the dress size ordered will be too big. So I asked if they can change it and they said I have to write a letter to their head office to request the change but to be prepared to pay a charge. I sent the letter last week and have heard nothing. I have over seven months until my wedding surely there is enough time to change the size.

On the good side my bridesmaid has announced her wedding and I will be her bridesmaid we will both be getting married in 2012 x. Looking forward to it.

Congrats on your weight loss! And as for your bridesmaid, I had the samething! I got married in June and one of my bridesmaids got married in July and I was in her wedding. It was so fun to plan together and have someone to call to ask questions to or vent to!

Hope everything with your dress works out! Sometimes wedding dress stores can be really ridiculous about stuff like that because they want to be able to charge you more for changing sizes or alterations. One of my bridesmaids went and tried on the dress in a size 6 and it fit absolutely perfectly, no alterations needed or anything, and they were trying to convince her to order a bigger size "just in case." Thank goodness she didn't because it still fits perfectly and she didn't have to pay to have it altered!
