At home wedding March 2012 & Disneymoon Nov 2012

Good news! Finally after nearly a month of stressing out the dress shop head office have contacted me to let me know they will measure me again and cancel my first dress and re order a new dress in the right size for me at no additional charge phew I can now breathe a sigh of relief :) so I'm doing lots of excercise and watching what I eat so the will get the best measurement. Hopefully no more stressful things to deal with.

I can't believe it has been so long since i have updated my PJ. I have been very busy with work etc. 4 months and two weeks to go!!! I feel now it's starting to fly in and want to make sure everything is done in time for the big day.

We visited our wedding venue for an open day they were hosting. This gave us a chance to see how the place will look set out for the wedding reception etc. There were also some of their recommended suppliers that we got the chance to speak to. We booked the covers for the chairs which will be white covers with a purple satin bow which matches the bridesmaid dress.

We also met with a DJ and were happy with the services offered which will also include mood lighting during the meal which will hopefully add to the ambience.

Next we took the week off work and did the following:

DF tried on suits and chose a black suit, white shirt, purple waistcoat & purple cravat (traditional wedding tie). so we are hiring these all for DF, best man, 2 Ushers, 2 dads. I shall post a picture soon.

Got my wedding ring which I will collect a month before the big day. I chose a plain platinum wedding band and will have the engraving saying Ohana. DF still can't decide on a ring but does know he will have the same engraving as me.

And last but not least we have booked our Honeymoon :yay:
We were not sure if we could afford a honeymoon straight after the wedding but as we have done well to keep to our budget we could afford to book it up. So we leave for our honeymoon a couple of days after our wedding to wait for it

Disneyland California!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
(very excited)
This will be our first trip there and I have wanted to go for sooooo long now. We willl be there for 9 nights and fly direct from Scotland to LA (short stop at London)
So we are doing lots of research on all the different things to do and see. We are planning to do lot of the tours at disneyland. If any of you have any suggestions or tips on what we can do to make this a special trip I would be grateful. DF has suggested we do the chefs table at Napa Rose. We have been lucky enough to dine at the chefs table at Victoria and Alberts twice and think Napa Rose should be fun too.

Sorry for the long post had a lot to update.

So exciting about the honeymoon! I have never been to California but I would love to go someday, I'm sure you will have a great trip!

Thanks I am looking forward to it. I'm glad we will get a proper honeymoon after we are married, i thought we may had to leave it till later on in the year as we are paying for the wedding on our own mostly but luckly things have worked out well.

Congratulations to you on your wedding I had a wee look at you photos very nice. You looked like you were having the best day and you both look very happy. I especially liked your table centerpieces :thumbsup2

Ok so I have recieved an email from the company that are doing our wedding invitations asking us to provide the wording for our invitations.

I am keen to do and Alice in Wonderland type theme at the wedding and so would like the wording to contain something that reflects the theme but to avoid being too cheesy. There are three separate sections that require wording:

1: Main invitation - Us inviting the guest to the wedding, venue, date and time etc

2: About gifts - we are not having a gift list and do not wish to mention anything about gifts. So we are wondering what to put on this section. I was thinking about a poem?

3: RSVP card - where the guest says yay or neigh.

If anyone has any ideas on what we could do the make the invitation wording a bit quirky/fun etc please post your ideas.

Hey!

Everything looks fantastic! Your meal choices look beautiful... even from a veggie perspective looks yummy! hehe

Shall i send you a poem we used, as we are not having presents either - I have found a fair few though!

Lovely to catch up with your plans!

Love

Here are a few poems...

This one we have used...

We've been together for a few years and have a lovely home,
There are not too many items now we don't already own.

So if your thoughts were on a gift your presence will suffice,
But if you really feel the need...Then your hugs and kisses would be nice

Our worldly possessions are plentiful as such,
On our wedding present list there really isn't much,
A gift of currency is all we ask, To help us on our lifelong task

XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
I like this one... Apperently its simalar to our card boxes we have...

More than just kisses so far we've shared,
Our home has been made with Love and Care,
Most things we need we've already got,
And in our home we can't fit a lot!
A wishing well we thought would be great,
(But only if you wish to participate),
A gift of money is placed in the well,
Then make a wish .... but shhh don't tell!
Once we've replaced the old with the new,
We can look back and say it was thanks to you!
And in return for your kindness, we're sure
That one day soon you will get what you wished for.

WE HAVEN'T GOT A WEDDING LIST
THE REASONS WE'LL EXPLAIN
IT'S TO SAVE YOU ALL THE HASSLE
AS SHOPPING IS A PAIN

WE THOUGHT WE'D ASK YOU ALL
FOR SOMETHING ELSE INSTEAD
A SMALL CONTRIBUTION
FOR US TO TAKE A HOLIDAY IN THE MED

SO IF YOU'D LIKE TO CONTRIBUTE
TOWARDS OUR HONEYMOON
WE OFFER YOU OUR HEART FELT THANKS
WITH LOVE THE BRIDE AND GROOM

XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

We haven't got a gift list, for all of you to see,
Because as you all know we never can agree!
But if you'd like to help us, start our married life,
cash or high street vouchers, would save a lot of strife

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

These are some of the good ones... Hope they help.

Fay
